Maji

마지 Maji is Japanese slang (マジ) for 'really, for real', as one post explains; the sign itself is written in Japanese.

A seafood omakase izakaya down an alley near Kyungsung Univ.–Pukyong Nat'l Univ. station in Daeyeon-dong, Busan. The day's catch is served as a course of sashimi, live prawns, sea squirt and sea urchin, grilled fish, tempura, a fish soup and kimchi maki, at 55,000–60,000 won per person with a two-person minimum; à la carte dishes are said to start at 7 pm. It opens at 5 pm. The restaurant moved here from Yeonsan-dong and reopened in summer 2026. We read 19 posts dated January 22 to October 11, 2026; 10 are about this restaurant, and all 10 describe a visit. The other 9 only shared the name and were set aside.

Rows without a count: 2 of 6 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. All seven posts that describe the seating mention private rooms; four say there are two, and one notes a room is semi-open with two tables inside. Six posts add that there is also counter or table seating, one counting four four-person tables.
  2. The counter faces the chef as he slices; two posts describe this, and one booked the counter specifically.
  3. Four posts booked ahead and found the table already set; three mention a 10% discount for booking the course a day in advance.
  4. Four posts know the earlier shop: one was a regular when it was in Togok, then followed it to Yeonsan-dong, and heard it later went to Myeongji under another name; the others say it moved from Yeonsan-dong and reopened near Kyungsung University.

Where it is

Map showing where Maji is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

2 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

No post describes which floor it is on from experience; only the address says ground floor.

We don't know about steps at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access; one post mentions a lawn path to the door, but none mention steps.

No post says whether the toilet is inside or separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • One post asked for faster service but found it took a while with a single chef; another says the B course ran over an hour.
  • The same B course is listed at 55,000, 58,000 and 60,000 won in different posts; posts say the menu and prices change with supply and weather, and one saw the visit date printed on the menu. One post calls it pricier than other sashimi places.
  • Opening hours appear in six posts, all copied from listings, and they disagree: daily 5 pm–3 am; the same but Sunday until 10 pm; or 1 am on weeknights with only Friday or Saturday running to 3 am. No post mentions a closing day.
  • The phone number 0507-1402-0919 appears in six copied listings. Two posts say the omakase needs booking a day ahead, and three suggest reserving the rooms early.
  • Two posts say it is about a three-minute walk from exit 5 of Kyungsung Univ.–Pukyong Nat'l Univ. station; none mention buses.
  • No post describes queuing. One says it's hard to get in without booking because of its regulars, but that's hearsay and we didn't count it.
  • Company varies: one post each with family and a child, a husband, a friend, and four couples. The family brought separate food for the child, who doesn't eat raw fish.
