Sujeong Dak-banmari Kalguksu is a chicken-noodle shop across from Busan station, at the mouth of Choryang market; the orange sign carries a long way. It does one dish — half a chicken simmered with kalguksu noodles in a black pot — in three versions: plain, hot, and with seaweed. The "Sujeong" in the name is where it used to be, not where it is — it traded in Sujeong market under a different name until it moved here around 2022. Open from ten in the morning, closed Sundays. The rice is free and unlimited, and the shop puts its own warning on the hot kimchi. The posts we read run from October 2024 to September 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours
What sets it apart
- Half of what is written about this place is about the kimchi. Twenty of twenty-eight posts mention it, and six note the warning the shop puts on its own ordering screen, in red: the kimchi is very hot. What it does to people: nearly fainted after one piece; hotter than the hottest instant noodle; the tongue goes numb and stops reporting; cut into quarters of quarters to start with. Exactly one writer says it is not that bad. And yet several describe the same compulsion — blowing on their mouth and reaching for more — and five buy a tub to take home. There is a way out for the heat-shy: a mild kimchi exists, but the one brought to your table is the hot one, so the mild has to be fetched from the counter yourself.
- The Sujeong in the name is not where the shop is. Five writers say it moved here from Sujeong market, and two name what it used to be called there. One post, from January 2025, dates the move at about three years earlier and observes that it is far busier here than it ever was in the market. Another writer simply asks the obvious question — why is a shop in Choryang called after a neighbourhood some way up the road? Do not navigate by the name: this address is in Choryang.
- The rice is free and there is no limit on it — fifteen writers say so, one reckoning you could make two meals of rice and kimchi alone. The counter also holds the mild kimchi, radish kimchi, pickled onion, aprons, plates, scissors and wipes. Rather few of them actually get as far as the rice: one is too full after a single bowl, another has still never managed it, a third only ever finishes the noodles and the chicken. Against that, one reports the owner urging a bowl of rice on them, and another asked for the dish without noodles so they could eat it with rice instead.
- You order from a tablet at the table and pay there and then — fifteen writers describe it. Not every table has one, though: one writer's did not, and they paid on the way out. Tell them when you order and they will leave things out — one asked for no mushrooms and says the request went straight through to the kitchen. Being opposite the station, it takes the traditional-market voucher (two writers) and, one notes, both the domestic QR payment system and WeChat Pay.

- People come back here. Eight writers say they had been before — one three times a month, one who has lost count, one whose title just repeats the word "again". Eight more mean to return. Six place it as a lunch canteen for the offices around the station, and four describe how they heard of it: a husband's colleagues, the people at work. Four came to eat off a hangover.
- Half a chicken goes into the pot whole. Twelve writers describe the size; two of them describe the same thing happening — lifting the chicken out and watching it fall apart under its own weight. One does the arithmetic: a whole bird would be too much, half is exactly enough. One writer dissents, and it is the most recent post of the lot: the chicken and the noodles both felt a little thin for the money. Nineteen posts put the price at 11,500 won and one at 11,000.

Parking

The posts flatly contradict each other about parking. Six say there is none and send you to a paid car park nearby. Five say otherwise: three describe thirty minutes validated at the tower next door for parties of two or more, one just says the tower validates, and one reports a single space beside the shop. We do not know which is current — nobody says they used the validation themselves, and most appear to be relaying what they were told. The "two or more" condition, though, appears in three separate posts. If you are driving, ring first (051-468-8909).

No writer says from their own eyes what floor this is on. The address says ground floor, and nobody describes going up or down any stairs — they simply walk in. But that is the address and an inference, not something we counted.
Not one of the twenty-eight posts mentions a step, a ramp, a threshold or the width of the aisles. The words for wheelchair and pushchair never appear — even in the post by someone who came with four children, who records only that the owner set chairs out for them, without saying what kind. Three describe the room as long and narrow, and none of them says how wide the gangway is. We will not say it can be entered, or that it cannot.
Five writers say the lavatory is inside the shop, all of them from having seen it — none of this is lifted from a listing. That is as far as it goes: whether it is split by sex, how many cubicles, nobody says. One writer's "clean" is the only word anyone offers about its state.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Thirteen writers give the walk, and they broadly agree. Five name exit 7 at Busan station, though they put the walk at three, four or seven minutes. Two give a distance instead: 219 metres from Choryang station's exit 1, 300 metres from Busan station's exit 7 — it sits between the two stations, so either will do. The landmarks vary: the McDonald's opposite the station, an insurance tower, a bank branch, the milmyeon shop next door, a rival chicken-noodle place across the road. Three say the orange sign is visible from a distance. Nobody writes about coming by bus.
- Not one writer says they queued. Six describe a packed room at lunch — full every mealtime, the office crowd pouring in — but none of them waited for a table. Two explain why: the food comes out fast and the tables turn over quickly; a third says there are enough tables for the lunch rate. One booked ahead, and six note that you can. Against them, one regular who walks past daily says the room is only ever briefly full, at mealtimes. Nobody put a number on a wait.
- Twenty-two posts give the closing time and they do not agree. The four written between December 2024 and April 2025 say eight in the evening; ten written from September 2025 to May 2026 mostly say nine. That looks like a change — except that two posts from September 2026 say eight again, and in between there is one saying ten and one saying half past nine. Saturdays end early: ten posts say seven, one older one says four. The closing day has moved too — seventeen say every Sunday, but a January 2025 post says every other Sunday and a March 2025 post names the second, fourth and fifth. And five writers note that they close early when they run out — one of them arrived on the first day back after a holiday and could not order a second bowl because the noodles had gone. If you are going in the evening, ring first (051-468-8909).
- Not one writer declares a sponsorship, and nine say outright that they paid their own way; the other nineteen say nothing about money — and silence is not the same as having paid. There is, though, something given for a review: four writers describe it — a soft drink at a table of two, a buckwheat roll at a table of three — and the roll they were given is written up in the post like any other dish. Twenty-eight posts are not twenty-eight people: one blogger wrote two of them, ten months apart, the later one repeating much of the earlier almost word for word. Eight posts record a price.
