Sinbarwon

신발원 None of the posts explain the name, and nothing in them ties it to the Korean word sinbal (shoes); it is simply the long-standing name of this Chinatown dumpling house.

Compiled from 12 blog posts read in fullSources →

Sinbarwon is a dumpling house in the Choryang Chinatown across from Busan Station (62 Daeyeong-ro 243beon-gil). Four pork dumplings cost 4,800 won, pan-fried 5,500, shrimp 6,500; the gogunsae sampler (two of each) is 8,500, or 18,000 with cucumber salad and a Kirin draft. Staff take your order or hand you a menu while you queue, and you pay on a tablet or kiosk once seated. Four posts say you cannot add to your order afterwards, so writers advise ordering generously up front. Takeaway is handled by a separate annex next door, Sinbarwon Oejeon (no. 64). We read 30 posts dated 2 September to 23 October 2026; 12 describe eating in. Four were about other restaurants and set aside; 14 were roundups, guides, or takeaway from the annex, and were not counted.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect a queue. All twelve eat-in posts describe waiting. The times given are 10–15 minutes (a weekday around 2 pm), 20, 30 (a holiday at 4:30 pm), 30, 30–40 (a Sunday at 5:50 pm) and 50 minutes (noon). The two who arrived for the 11 am opening got in straight away, though one said a crowd had already formed. There is no ticket or sign-up machine — you just join the line — and two posts mention umbrellas set out for shade.
  2. Nine posts mention juice bursting from the dumplings — the pork ones especially, with the shrimp ones noted for a whole shrimp inside.
  3. Seven posts call the pan-fried dumplings crisp. One said they weren't greasy despite being almost deep-fried; another, not a fan of fried dumplings, found them merely fine.
  4. Six posts describe the seating: two- and four-person tables plus a bar counter for solo diners — seven tables by one count, about six by another. Several add that turnover is quick because people eat dumplings and leave.
3 more
  1. Four posts say they ordered and paid on a tablet or kiosk; one explains that even after staff take your order in line, you re-enter it on the table tablet and pay there.
  2. Five posts walked from Busan Station — about five minutes from Exit 5 — and most fitted the meal around a train.
  3. Three posts drank Kirin draft; one noted it is the only alcohol on offer, so no baijiu.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

No one mentioned which floor the dining room is on or whether there are steps.

Nobody said whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — unknown, not absent.

No one described the toilet. One post's info box says it is inside, but that was copied from a listing, so we didn't count it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 14 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-232 posts in one day
2026-10-222 posts in one day
2026-10-214 posts in one day
2026-10-202 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three posts went with family (one with children); beyond that, who people went with doesn't add up to a pattern, and no one actually reported sitting alone at the bar.
  • Opening hours: seven posts give 11:00–20:45, last order 20:15, closed Tuesdays, mostly copied from listings. One gives 11:00–21:00, and one diner found the kitchen stopped taking orders at 8:10 pm.
  • No one called the prices high; one said they were quite reasonable. A couple's meal of the gogunsae set, pan-fried dumplings and kungfu noodles came to 29,400 won before drinks. A 'too expensive' remark was about the takeaway annex, so we left it out.
  • Three posts list the phone as 0507-1440-0195; one roundup also found 051-467-0177. One copied note says there are no reservations — you queue on site.
  • Whether Busan's Dongbaekjeon local currency is accepted is unclear — one post thought it wasn't.
  • Speed varies: one post had food almost as soon as they sat (having ordered in line), another waited over ten minutes.
  • The menu has changed: two returning visitors said the gogunsae sampler and the kungfu noodles are new, and called the takeaway annex recent. None say when.
