사미헌 신관 The newer of two Samiheon beef-rib houses in Seomyeon, for braised short ribs at lunch and charcoal-grilled ribs at night

Data as of · Published ·

Samiheon Singwan is a beef-rib house on the first two floors of a red-brick building on Seomyeon-munhwa-ro, across from the Youngkwang Bookstore. There are two Samiheons in Seomyeon and this is the newer one — walking up from exit 9 you pass the original at number 19 and carry on about another hundred metres. The original deals in premium Korean beef; this branch covers more ground — marinated ribs, braised ribs, rice bowls. Until the first of March 2026 it traded under a different name. People come at lunch for the braised-rib set and in the evening to grill ribs over charcoal, and the room upstairs takes family occasions: first birthdays, sixtieths, seventieths. It also sells a premium lunch box, ordered ahead and collected. Open every day from eleven until half past nine — and, in the middle of Seomyeon, it has its own car park. The posts we read run from July 2025 to September 2026.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff grill the meat at your table — but not always. Two writers say they did: one watched a member of staff work the tongs with a flourish and carve the bone-in rib for them; another says someone came back through the meal to check and help. The writer who paid her own way reports the opposite. On earlier visits the staff had always cooked for her; this time, when she asked the man about to put the meat on to wait a moment for a photograph, he told her to go ahead herself and walked off. She adds, plainly, that it seems to happen some days and not others and she cannot work out the rule. Nor can we. Do not count on it.
  2. Two discounts were running. The first, an autumn promotion on the braised ribs, took 15 percent off the single dish and 20 percent off the sets between 1 September and 31 October 2026 — the two-person set falling from ₩54,000 to ₩43,200, the four-person one from ₩99,000 to ₩79,200. It applied Monday to Saturday, eleven until half past two, not on Sundays or public holidays, and at this branch only. Seven posts mention it, and one points out that the discounted set then undercuts the undiscounted single dish. The second is a family day: every Sunday, ten percent off for two generations at the table and fifteen for three — grilled meat only, drink excluded, say two writers. Two note a free soft drink for a receipt review. Both are dated offers and we cannot say whether they still run.
  3. There are private rooms upstairs, and families hold occasions here. Four writers saw one; the fullest account is from a daughter who held her mother's seventieth here. She booked room 1, reached along a corridor and closed off from the main floor; a board on the second floor carried her mother's name and the occasion; and after the meal the party moved to a separate table set for the birthday, where they gave flowers and took photographs. A birthday party needs a booking of at least eight, she notes. One other writer mentions that the table setting can be hired. Two saw the day's bookings posted at the entrance. Six posts say the place takes first birthdays, sixtieths, seventieths and company dinners — five of them are repeating what they were told; one actually did it.
  4. There is a premium lunch box, ordered ahead and collected — four of our fourteen posts are about it. Four kinds, from ₩22,900 to ₩45,000. Orders close at six the evening before, and each has a minimum: the grilled-beef box at ₩34,500, which all four ordered, must be bought three at a time. All four describe the same fourteen compartments — grilled beef with braised abalone, scallop, a battered prawn, a tofu-skin roll, omelette, glass noodles, salted roe, salad, kimchi, soup, rice and fruit. Two remark that the box is not one you carry in a hand; one strapped his to the back of a motorcycle. One thing is worth saying plainly: all four put the word 'delivery' in their titles and all four went and collected it themselves. Nobody had one delivered. Five posts also note meal kits and gift sets for sale in the restaurant.
  5. Six call it roomy and nobody calls it cramped. Two note the high ceiling; two that the tables are far enough apart not to overhear the next one. The two floors differ. Downstairs the tables run from the door to the back, there are window seats, and two writers mention a counter for two that would do for eating alone. Upstairs is the larger room, with the private rooms off it. Three describe pale wood and a wall of green planting; two how much light comes through the glass at lunchtime. One expected the heaviness of a grill house and found it much cleaner than that; another could see the meat in a glass-fronted ageing fridge. Nine posts call it clean.

Posts saying you can park9 of 14 posts

In the middle of Seomyeon, the building has its own car park — nine posts mention it, and several make the same point: that parking here is not the ordeal it usually is around Seomyeon. Three writers actually parked. One found the spaces right beside the building; one was waved in by a member of staff; one simply says the car park is inside the building and it was easy. Two place it behind the building, three beside or within it, so the accounts differ a little on where exactly it is. One mentions a P sign out front. Nobody says how many cars it holds, and nobody found it full. A post about the original branch says its customers use this building's ground-floor car park and, when it is full, a bookstore car park nearby — but that is the other branch's arrangement and we have not counted it.

Getting there

Getting inside

Second floor4 of 14 posts
Lift to the floor1 of 14 posts
Toilet inside1 of 14 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 14 posts

It uses two floors, as the registered address says, and four writers mention the upper one in their own words. At lunch a pair gets seated downstairs; upstairs is the bigger room and the private rooms — three went up to look. There are both stairs and a lift. The woman who held her mother's seventieth took the stairs but noticed the lift, and writes that when the guests of honour are elderly the route through the building matters as much as the food — she thought someone who struggles with stairs would manage here. Hers is the only post that mentions the lift, and nobody counts the steps.

Nobody has looked at the doorway. Across fourteen posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp and threshold do not appear. The nearest anyone comes is one line about getting upstairs — that she took the stairs but the lift was there too. She adds that someone who cannot manage stairs would be all right, but that is about moving between floors inside, not about getting in from the street. Whether there is a step at the front door nobody says — which is 'nobody looked', not 'there is none'. Children are better covered: two writers mention plenty of high chairs, and one had her baby with her. If you need to be sure, ring 051-714-4457.

One writer records the toilet directly — the self-funded post lists it in her header as inside the restaurant, with separate men's and women's. A second mentions it only in passing, that she caught sight of the kitchen on her way there, which at least confirms it is inside. That is all there is — nobody says which floor, how many cubicles, or what state it is in. One post carries a line listing bookings, groups, wi-fi, takeaway, separate toilets, delivery, high chairs, a waiting area and contactless payment, but that is the Naver listing copied whole and we have not counted it.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 15 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • There are two Samiheons in Seomyeon, and the first one you reach is not this one. Two posts put it at about 273 metres from exit 9, several at two or three minutes' walk — but the original stands on that same walk. The woman who held her mother's seventieth here sets it out exactly: you see the original first, and this branch is another hundred metres further up; when relatives were finding their own way, she told them to pass the first Samiheon and keep going. This one is the red-brick building with a large vertical sign — four writers say so. The landmarks opposite are a well-known bookstore (four posts) and a department store (one). The phone numbers differ too: 051-714-4457 here, 051-819-6677 at the original. And until 1 March 2026 this branch traded under another name — if you know it by that, it is the same place.
  • Nobody reports queuing, but three found the room full — one at weekday lunch, one who simply says every seat was taken, one who counted the room half eating soup and half grilling beef. Full is not the same as waiting outside, and nobody describes the second. What three did do was book: one found her table laid and waiting, and two noticed the day's reservations posted at the door. If you are a group, or coming at lunch, booking looks like the better idea. On how fast the food comes there is one complaint: a writer there in the evening says you should order your rice and stew early because they take a while. Against that, one notes the braised ribs arrive all but cooked and needed almost no waiting.
  • One post discloses a sponsorship, but four others share the same sentences. The disclosure is explicit — a meal voucher from the restaurant, with the tags to match. One other writer declares she paid. The remaining twelve say nothing. But the four lunch-box posts all carry the same search phrase in their titles, and inside, two sentences repeat word for word: that hospitals, universities and district offices reorder these boxes, and that the meat is cooked to a fixed weight on the day of collection so the taste holds. That is the restaurant's own copy, so we have not counted those sentences. What each of the four actually did differs — one carried his on a motorcycle, one opened hers at her partner's shop, one took it home — so we kept the posts. The five lunch posts overlap on the promotion wording in much the same way, but their meals and photographs differ enough that we did not treat them as one voice. One post we dropped — no record of eating at all, only publicity sentences about humidity control and air purification, and prices off the board.
