Hwangjanggun Dal-dong

황장군 달동점 A Dal-dong rib house open around the clock except Sundays — clear rib soup, braised ribs on a stone plate, and cold noodles pulled in-house by day.

Compiled from 8 blog posts read in fullSources →

Hwangjanggun's Dal-dong branch is a beef-rib restaurant on Wangsaeng-ro in the south of Ulsan, beside the NC outlet. It sells three things — rib soup, braised ribs and Hamheung cold noodles — with tripe, cartilage and spicy rib soups alongside. The galbitang is a clear broth with large ribs; the braised ribs arrive on a hot stone plate; the noodles are advertised as pulled in the kitchen. Except on Sundays it opens at nine in the morning and closes at seven the next morning, which is why the back of the menu is drinking food. There is a car park out front and a room for groups. Two writers call it a long-standing place. The posts we read run from March to September 2026.

Rows without a count: 4 of 6 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. Coffee and sikhye — sweet rice punch — sit by the till, free. Four of the first-hand writers mention them, and two of them care more about the sikhye than the meal: one declares the place a sikhye spot, another calls it the best part of the visit. A third had finished her soup and had no room left. One writer also notes a pot of warm broth brought to the table before the food.
  2. A receipt review earns a taster dumpling or a drink. Three writers saw the notice; only one actually collected — a rib dumpling, on the sweet side. One only says it would be silly not to; another says plainly that they did not bother.
  3. Side dishes come from a self-service bar, say three writers, and one adds that the green chillies are there too, for dropping into the soup. What is out changes with the visit: two spring visitors list soy-marinated crab and chilled cucumber soup, while two later ones list salted squid and radish kimchi. Two note a doenjang stew arriving with the braised ribs. One counted four basic dishes; another was surprised by how many there were.
  4. There is a room for groups behind the self-service bar — one writer saw it. Three more say the hall is wide with big tables and would suit a gathering, though none of the three came as a group. One found the kitchen taking orders only until seven that evening because a party had booked — an all-night place can still close early on the day.

  1. There is a happy hour. One writer read the banner in the hall: order from the listed dishes between five and half past six and a bottle of soju comes free. That is the only mention of it, from May 2026. Whether it still runs, we do not know.

Parking

Posts saying you can park7 of 8 posts

This is a place you drive to. The car park is directly in front, and all seven first-hand writers say so. One counted four to six spaces and warned about double parking; another arrived in the evening to find cars blocking the view of the door. And one writer reports that when it is full you can leave the key in the car and tell the owner, who will move it while you eat.

Getting inside

Effectively nobody records the floor. One post's address line says ground floor and that is all: not one writer mentions steps, an upper storey, or whether the door sits level with the street. Nor does anyone say how far it is from the car park to that door.

Nobody looked at the threshold or a ramp. Across the eight first-hand posts the words wheelchair, pushchair, ramp, step and threshold never appear. One writer notes a high chair for babies and one came while pregnant, and neither describes the way in. The line about it suiting elderly guests belongs to the copy-batch we excluded, so we did not count it. This is not a yes and not a no.

Not one writer mentions the toilet. Across all eight first-hand posts there is no line about it at all — inside or out, shared or separate, accessible or not. For a place open through the night this is the thing we would most want to know, and nobody wrote it down.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 22 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-08-043 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • We read thirty posts and built this page on eight. The other twenty-two cannot be read as someone going and eating here. The largest block is seventeen posts over four days, 31 March to 3 April 2026, stamped from one template: identical subheadings, identical sentences. The only thing that changes is the search phrase pushed into the title and body — Ulsan tripe soup, Ulsan cartilage soup, Ulsan work dinner, Ulsan family meal, Ulsan real local spot, one per post. One carries tripe soup in its headline and never eats any. Not one of the seventeen records a single price. Three more went up together on 4 August 2026, sharing a side-dish list and the same misspelling of the restaurant's name across two different blogs. None of the twenty-two declares a sponsorship. We do not know who paid. What we know is that counting them would inflate every number on this page about fourfold, so we did not count them.
  • The noodles change with the hour. A notice at the door says that from nine at night to seven in the morning the naengmyeon is made with bought-in noodles rather than the house-pulled ones. Two writers read it, and one thought the honesty worth praising. To get the noodles the shop advertises, you have to come in daylight — and all eight of our first-hand writers did. Nobody writes about eating here at night or before dawn, and nobody ordered from the drinking menu on the back.
  • Nobody records how they got here on foot or by bus. Seven of the eight write about parking a car; the eighth only places it next to the outlet mall. Which station or stop is nearest, and how long the walk is, nobody says. The copy-batch we excluded repeats 'good access, central Dal-dong commercial district' more than ten times — the same sentence copied, never once a route.
  • Nobody reports queueing. One lunchtime visitor found a fair number of people but the hall wide enough not to feel crowded; one evening visitor found the car park full. Not one post describes waiting. That may be the all-night hours and the size of the room, but we have not confirmed it. What we do know is that a booked party can shut the kitchen early — one writer arrived on a day when orders stopped at seven.
  • What the eight ordered clusters tightly. Five had the rib soup; two the ginseng version and the cold noodles; one each the braised ribs, the premium braised ribs and the cartilage soup. The abalone rib soup, the spicy rib soup, the tripe soup and its hotpot, the dressed pollack and the set menus — nobody ate any of them. Their prices are read off a menu photograph and are right. About how they taste we have nothing to say.
