수백당 울산동구점 Blood-sausage hotpot and pork soup from seven in the morning, with a free soft-serve counter by the door

Data as of · Published ·

Soobaekdang's Ulsan Donggu branch serves blood-sausage hotpot and sausage soup at street level on Deungdae-ro in Bangeo-dong, on the road out to Daewangam Park. It is one outlet of a chain — one writer names the original in Gimhae, another compares it with the Gyeongju branch. The sausage is made in house; the hotpot adds pork, intestine and either prawn or Korean beef intestine, and is ordered by head count. Alone, you order soup. A self-service counter holds the side dishes, instant noodles and extra broth, and a dessert station by the door gives away coffee, soft-serve and puffed rice cakes. It opens at seven in the morning and closes at midnight, so breakfast and late supper both work. You order from a tablet at the table and a robot brings it. The car park is behind the building. The posts we read run from April 2025 to May 2026.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

These hours are counted from the posts we read. Shops change them without notice — check Naver Place before you go. Place — check hours

What sets it apart

  1. The free dessert counter is the most-written-about thing here — twenty-six of the twenty-nine posts mention it. By the door stand a coffee machine, a soft-serve machine and a stack of puffed rice cakes, and you build the ice cream onto a cake; shop and customers alike call the result *ppeongscream*. One writer bookmarks any restaurant that gives away ice cream; another had planned to buy some afterwards and saved the money. Four remark how much the children liked it.
  2. The self-service counter holds more than side dishes. Eighteen posts describe helping themselves, and on the same counter sit instant noodle blocks and extra broth. Topping up the pot and boiling noodles in it has settled into the house routine — one writer refilled the broth twice. Two say the best part is not having to catch anyone's eye; three went back two or three times for the radish kimchi alone.
  3. The size is the point. Sixteen posts describe a wide room with space between tables. More than ten suggest it for a work dinner or a gathering, and one writer, mid-meal, watched a large party come in and called it evidence. Two note sofa seating along the wall; one saw plenty of reserved tables at a public-holiday lunch. Three mention seeing someone eating alone — but not one of the twenty-nine writers came alone.

Parking

20 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park20 of 28 posts

The car park is behind the building, and twenty people used it. One counts more than ten spaces; two add that there is plenty of white-line street parking. Against that, one calls it small, and one writer never found it at all, describing the restaurant as sitting on a main road with no obvious car park — it is behind, and invisible from the street. One parked at the back, looked for a door through the building, found none, and walked all the way round to the front. Whether there is an accessible bay, nobody wrote.

Only one post says anything about floors: it is on the ground floor of a roadside building and easy to spot. The registered address also reads "16 Deungdae-ro, first floor". Read with the post about the flush entrance, that suggests you step in from the street — but no writer says so about steps either way, and nobody mentions an upper floor or a basement.

There is no step at the door — someone who pushed a pram in says so. One post records getting the pram in easily because the entrance is flush; another says the room is wide enough to park one. The pram party took the far corner table. But the word wheelchair appears nowhere in the twenty-nine posts, and nobody looked at a ramp or measured a doorway. A pram getting in is not the same as a wheelchair getting in.

One person looked at the toilet and wrote it down, noting only that it is inside the building. Two more state that the toilets are separated by sex, but both lines sit inside a copied Naver amenities list — group bookings, takeaway, wi-fi, separate toilets, parking, all in one string — so we did not count them as observation. Where in the building, whether you leave the dining room, how far, nobody wrote.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Twelve posts reproduce the same publicity copy. Eight went up between 14 August and 8 September 2025, four more between 13 and 21 December, and they repeat word for word that the owner ate at ninety-six pork-soup restaurants over ten years of research, that this was the first garlic-sauce boiled pork in Korea, and the coinage *ppeongscream*. Four hashtags recur in the same order, and the four December posts end with an identical block of address, hours and phone number. Not one of the twelve declares a sponsorship. They record eating, so we counted them — but anyone reading the numbers on this page should know which twelve they are. One further post named no dish and never said it ate; that one is out of the count.
  • Nobody came by public transport. In twenty-nine posts no bus number and no stop name appears. Four writers place it on the way to Daewangam Park and suggest walking the park before or after — but even those four never say how they got there. Two note it is easy to find, being at street level on a main road.
  • Nobody queued. Three say they did not: a weekend early lunch with the room half full, an early arrival that found it quiet, one who felt no crush at all. The single post that mentions waiting only guesses that there might be some, and the writer who came at a public-holiday lunch reports a busy room but no wait. What a weekend evening is like, we do not know — few writers went then, and the room is large enough that it may simply turn over.
  • Two phone numbers appear. Eight posts give 0507-1407-2389 and one gives 052-710-3337. The first is a Naver proxy line that can expire; the second shows up once — which one answers today we would have to ring to find out, and we did not. On hours, more than twenty posts say seven to midnight while two say half past seven. And be careful with the name: one writer is furious about three pieces of sausage in a bowl, but that was a different branch, in Daegu. The same post calls the Ulsan soup good.
  • The praise runs mostly one way, but three things divide the writers. The seasoning: the board says the soup arrives already salted, and one writer added nothing while another found it flat and loaded in salted shrimp. The body of the broth: one warns it is thick enough to be a matter of taste. The price: most call it good value, but one, paying twenty thousand a head, finds it dearer than an ordinary intestine hotpot. The garlic pork splits the same way — three call it the best thing on the set, one was disappointed by thin slices and not many of them.
