K55 Songtan Budae-jjigae

K55 송탄부대찌개 K55 is the military designation of Osan Air Base in Songtan, Pyeongtaek, and Songtan budae-jjigae is the ham-and-sausage army stew of that base town.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Songtan-style army-stew shop in unit 18 of the basement food court of the Manhattan Building, better known as the Yeouido Department Store. The stew is 11,000 won per person with rice in a big bowl, and the pot of ham, sausage, minced meat and cheese boils on a burner at your table. The noodle add-on is Shin Ramyun for 2,000 won. Sides run 10,000 won (rolled omelette, perilla-oil fried egg, chive pancake, corn cheese) and 12,000 won for hamburg steak, and after 1 p.m. there are one-person sets from 18,000 won. We read 29 posts from July 18 to October 13, 2026: 22 describe a visit, 2 are slots in ranking lists, and 5 turned out to be about other places. No post in those three months reports a change in prices, menu or hours.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Few people actually pay for the noodles. Eleven posts say a Naver receipt review gets you a free Shin Ramyun add-on, and two specify one per person, up to two per table. Four posts list the regular price of 2,000 won.
  2. The free sides are just bean sprouts and cabbage kimchi, topped up from a self-serve corner. Eleven posts say they refilled sides themselves, and nearly every post mentions helping yourself to more rice from the cooker; one counted two self-serve stations. Extra broth comes in a kettle for topping up before the noodles go in.
  3. You order on a tablet or kiosk at the table, as ten posts describe; three note that drivers pick their parking ticket on the same screen. Three posts say the stew must be ordered one serving per person.
  4. Fifteen posts call the portions large. Two say there was no need to add extra ham, and one couple ordered two servings and left a lot.

Parking

6 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park6 of 22 posts

Parking is in the building's B2–B3 garage, settled with a 1,000-won ticket bought at the restaurant; six posts describe buying one. Five say it covers an hour, and one adds that after 60 minutes it's 1,000 won per 10 minutes. Only one poster says they actually drove. Parking lines in ten other posts were copied info blocks, so we didn't count them.

Getting inside

In a basement13 of 22 posts
Lift to the floor1 of 22 posts

It's downstairs. Thirteen posts describe going down to the B1 food court and finding the shop by the floor map, and one warns you can get a little lost. Others give directions, such as taking entrance 2 down or turning right at the bottom of the stairs.

No one mentioned a step at the door or coming in with a wheelchair or stroller, so we simply don't know. One post says the main entrance has an escalator or elevator down to B1, and two describe taking the stairs at the corner of the building.

No one said whether the restroom is inside the shop or shared with the building. Separate men's and women's restrooms appear only in two copied info blocks, which we didn't count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Many posts mention lunch queues, but only two saw one. One walked in at 11 a.m. on a weekday and saw people waiting on the way out; another saw a line form a little after 11:30. The other eight posts that bring up waiting went at dinner, on weekends or after 1 p.m., had no wait, and were repeating what they'd heard about lunch. Nobody gave a wait time. Two posts say your whole party must be present to be seated.
  • Four posts say it's about a five-minute walk from exit 5 of Yeouido Station, one after riding Line 9. Nobody wrote about coming by bus.
  • Only five posts say who they went with: two with a friend, one alone with the solo set, one with a husband, and one family with children. The rest don't say. The 9–12-seat group table is hearsay.
  • Eighteen posts give opening hours and nearly all agree: weekdays 10:30–20:50 with a 14:50–17:00 break (last orders 14:20 and 20:20), Saturdays 10:30–15:00 (last order 14:30), closed Sundays. One post says weekdays open at 10:00, and another says 'daily' while also listing Sunday as closed. Most of these are copied info blocks.
  • The price is the same in every post: 11,000 won per serving of stew, so two people with one side come to about 32,000 won (22,000 for two servings plus a 10,000-won omelette). Six posts call it cheap or good value and none call it expensive. Only the sikhye price varies, between 3,000 and 4,000 won.
  • Nine posts give the number 0507-1330-0957; one ranking list gives 02-786-9008. Nobody wrote about booking by phone, and since reservations only appear in copied info blocks, we can't say whether they take them.
  • Sixteen posts from September 5–17, 2026 repeat the same info in the same order with the same lines (Shin Ramyun has less starch so it won't spoil the broth, solo sets after 1 p.m., the 1,000-won parking ticket). Only one of them discloses sponsorship; two posts from July to September say they paid their own way. Claims about Korean-beef bone broth and not being a franchise come from the shop's own notices, so we didn't treat them as evidence.
  • The shop plays 90s Korean pop with music videos. One diner who went twice found it loud enough to be distracting both times; another liked the atmosphere.
