Western

Seoyangmyunok

서양면옥 Seoyang Myeonok Seoyang means 'the West' and myeonok is the old word for a noodle house — a Western noodle house, which is what the place does: pasta built on Korean ingredients like yukhoe, kimchi and perilla.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

A fusion pasta house in a lane off the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul (43 Yeonhui-ro 1-gil). It occupies a converted red-brick house with an outdoor terrace and serves pastas built on Korean ingredients — capellini with Korean-beef yukhoe and perilla oil, a gochujang-tinged baby-octopus tomato pasta, a spicy pork lasagna. A pasta runs about 22,000 won; the two-person set (steak, one pasta, two drinks) is 67,600 won, and 100 won more adds kimchi fried rice. We read 30 posts from 17 September to 28 October 2026; 25 describe actually eating here. One was about the separate Seosunla-gil branch and was set aside, and four only introduce the place.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Nineteen posts mention the outdoor terrace. One counted about three four-seat tables out there and said it fills first in good weather — they hadn't requested it when booking and were seated inside. Others moved indoors because of rain or wind.
  2. Six posts report a wait: 15 minutes at 1:40 pm on a Saturday, one party ahead at about 1:30 pm, and two saw a line at the door before the noon opening. You join the queue on the CatchTable device out front; two posts mention outdoor seats for waiting. Eleven posts booked ahead, and most of those walked straight in.
  3. Sixteen posts note the open kitchen; one says the bar seats sit right in front of it. Ten say you order from your phone via the QR code on the table.
  4. Seven posts call the portions generous — the 100-won 'mini' kimchi fried rice was 'not mini at all', and two pastas plus a salad left a couple very full. One post disagreed, saying the steak on the risotto was skimpy.
2 more
  1. Eleven posts call the food spicy, mostly the baby-octopus pasta, described as mildly hot. One post said the lasagna wasn't spicy despite its description.
  2. Six posts mention a review event: 2,000 won off per review on Naver, Google Maps or Kakao Map, up to 6,000 won; one post got a cabbage salad through it instead.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 25 posts

Only one post speaks to parking from experience — 'parking is hard' — and suggests the Dongjin lot a four-minute walk away. The repeated 'no parking; Yeonnam 2 public lot, 250 won per 5 minutes' lines are copied listing info and weren't counted.

Getting inside

Toilet inside5 of 25 posts

No post describes which floor the dining room is on from experience; the '1st floor' is only in the address. That is an absence of reports, not a confirmation.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One parent went with a 17-month-old but did not describe the entry. Unknown, not absent.

Five posts say the restroom is inside the restaurant — one noting that many Yeonnam-dong places use a shared outside toilet — and one mentions blankets left beside it. No post says whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Seat counts differ: one post says five tables in all, one says five or six, and one counts about six four-tops and three bar seats inside plus three four-tops on the terrace. Two posts agree the room is small.
  • Twenty posts give the same opening hours — daily 12:00–21:30, last order 20:20 — but all are copied from the listing. Several add that a break or early close can happen for prep, and one relays that the writer's daughters hit a break time and had to queue.
  • Prices vary slightly: the octopus pasta is 22,000 won in two posts and 18,900 in two others; the set is 67,600 won in two posts and 67,900 in one. One of the 18,900-won posts says it used an online screenshot because the menu prices differed, so it may be outdated — we couldn't sort it by date.
  • Many posts list the phone number as 0507-1472-0716. Bookings are through Naver Booking and CatchTable; the claim that Naver takes at most four tables per hour is hearsay we couldn't verify.
  • Of the 25 visit posts, one discloses a sponsored tasting, two say they paid themselves, and the rest say nothing. Yet stock phrases — 'a little Europe in Yeonnam-dong', 'already loved in Hongdae as a waiting-list spot', the emphasis on clean restrooms — recur word for word across many posts, so we believe some come from review-event prompts or commissioned copy.
