Seodanggae 2nyeon Roasters
서당개2년로스터스 Seodanggae is the dog of an old village schoolhouse, from the proverb that such a dog can recite poetry after three years; the name stops at two years, and the sister wine shop next door is called Pungwol, the 'poetry' of the saying.

A roastery café filling a four-storey red-brick building in a back alley at the far end of the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Yeonnam-dong. You order on the ground floor and sit on floors two to four or on the fourth-floor terrace. Americano is 5,000 won with a choice of beans, vanilla-bean latte 6,000, a financier 3,000 (posts from August and September 2026). Many customers bring dogs, and the wine shop next door, Pungwol, is said to share the owner. We read 24 posts from 22 February to 28 September 2026; 15 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Five posts mention an open-air terrace on the fourth floor. A couple who sat there saw Gungdong Park on one side and the forest park on the other, and suggested going near sunset since the awning does not keep the midday heat off. One post notes smoking is banned even on the terrace. Counting the ground-floor outdoor seats, six posts mention somewhere to sit outside.
- Six posts either sat with a dog or saw dogs inside; one says half the customers had brought one. Posts mention leash hooks by the door and separate water bowls for large and small dogs. Dogs are allowed on the second floor only, according to the two posts that say. The 20% discount for dog walkers is the shop's own notice, copied by bloggers.
- Four posts call it quiet, though one of them found the second floor so cramped and hushed you have to hold your breath, and the third floor too dark for studying after nightfall. Another visitor also found the chairs low and the lighting dim.
- Four posts came with friends, one couple came together, and one visitor brought her son, who folded paper while resisting the urge to pet the dogs.
1 more
- Only one post describes the trip itself: about ten minutes on Hongdae village bus 6 from Hongik University Station. Walking times from Hongik Univ. and Gajwa stations in other posts are copied listings. Several posts warn the alley is hard to find.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Second floor | 6 of 14 posts |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | 2 of 14 posts |
Each floor seats differently. Six posts describe the second floor: mostly two-seat tables there, one long communal table on the third, four or five small tables on the fourth. One visitor found only a single four-person table on the second floor, with tables too small for more than a laptop. One post notes you climb outdoor stairs up to the third floor and an inside staircase to the fourth.
Nobody says whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in or whether there is a step at the door — unknown, not absent. Two posts describe climbing outdoor stairs to the upper floors, and none mentions a lift.
Toilets are split by floor: two posts place the women's on the second floor and the men's on the third.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 21 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Opinions split two to two on whether it is roomy: the building is large, but each floor is small.
- No post mentions waiting; one found plenty of seats even on a busy weekend. That is too little to say there is never a queue.
- Six posts give the same opening hours, 10:00 to midnight with last orders at 23:00, but all copied them from a listing. One visitor was told that day they would close at 22:00. Nobody reports a closing day first-hand.
- Prices come from the menus copied in two posts from August and September 2026. They agree except for the Brown Schpenner, 6,500 won in one and 7,000 in the other. A coffee and a pastry run about 8,000 to 11,000 won; one visitor called the fig scone pricey.
- The phone number 0507-1306-7133 appears in one copied listing only, and the 'no reservations' line comes from a listing-style post. One visitor phoned ahead to check that dogs were allowed.
- Some posts share a template: two Paju laundry and car-wash business blogs posted identical copy on the same day, a shop-music company posted one promo twice, and one post was generated from the Naver listing. We did not count them. The music company says the café used to be called Gongrot, which no other post confirms, and gives no date.
