Koike is a two-storey cake café on Donggyo-ro 39-gil in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo, a short way from the Gyeongui Line Forest Park. The display case is full of slices topped with cats, dogs, pandas and rabbits; two posts say every slice is 9,000 won. Drinks noted: iced americano 5,800 won, iced vanilla latte 6,500 won. Whole and design cakes are ordered ahead over KakaoTalk and picked up at the shop. We read 30 posts dated 19 July to 7 October 2026. Seven were about other places and set aside; 22 describe a visit (19 sat in, 3 only picked up cake). A Dubai cake sold in winter 2025–26 is no longer on offer, per an August 2026 post.

Rows without a count: 7 of 8 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Seven posts call it roomy. One says the ground floor is quite large and upstairs somewhat smaller; another likes the generous upstairs seating; another mentions full-height windows and tables spaced far enough that conversations do not mix. One post notes the toilet is inside the café.
  2. Five posts ordered a cake ahead and picked it up: a cream-cheese whole cake for an anniversary, a ponytail cheesecake for a child's birthday, a 2024 Parents' Day blueberry cheesecake with edible carnations (collected upstairs), and custom fruit cream cakes (mango in May, strawberry in February). Two posts say orders go through a KakaoTalk channel; one says lettering runs to about 12 Korean characters. One post asked the price: 45,000 won for size 1, 55,000 won for size 2.
  3. Three posts say the cakes are not cloying and three say they are not too sweet; one called its cake rich and sweet. The exception was the earl grey cake: one post found its cream-cheese base heavy enough to drown the tea flavour.
  4. Four posts mention a free house-made sablé for writing a Naver receipt review after buying cake; two of them received and ate it.
3 more
  1. Five posts were repeat visits (a second trip, a regular stop when meeting in Hongdae, back again after a spring visit). One post said it would not return, over the drinks: the americano was weak and the earl grey tea tasted like plain water, and when they asked for it stronger they were told the rule is one tea bag, so they got hot water and steeped it themselves. Another post also found the coffee weak and suggested an extra shot.
  2. Eleven posts went with friends, by far the most common. One group of six dropped in on a weekend after a bridal shower and got a table straight away; one post went with a husband and one went alone for just a drink.
  3. Two posts walked about ten minutes from Hongik University Station exit 3 through the Yeonnam lanes.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Second floor7 of 22 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 22 posts read)
Toilet inside1 of 22 posts

There is an upstairs. Seven posts mention the second floor. One found seats up there on a busy day; another notes you cannot order upstairs, so you order and collect on the ground floor and carry it up. One post says the way up is a staircase on the left of the building. Whether it is always open is unclear: one post says weekends 13:00–17:30 only, another thinks it opened only on weekends or certain hours. Noise is split too: one post found the ground floor noisy with ordering traffic and upstairs quiet; another heard the noise upstairs before going in and stayed on the ground floor.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One post mentions stairs to the second floor; none mentions a lift. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there is none.

One post says the toilet is inside; nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices recorded: 9,000 won per slice, americano 5,800, vanilla latte 6,500, earl grey tea 6,000, oat milk +500. On the slice price the posts split one to one: one skipped cake as too expensive, another said the slices are big enough to be worth it.
  • No post records an actual wait time. One group of six sat down at once on a weekend; one post found a weekday afternoon quiet but says there is sometimes a wait at weekends. Several posts describe the place as busy, which is not the same as queueing.
  • Opening hours appear in eight posts, all copied from listings. Six agree on Mon–Thu 12:00–20:30 and Fri–Sun 12:00–21:30, last order 20:00 and 21:00 respectively. One post gives a 21:00 close on Fri–Sun and another 12:00–21:40 daily. Three say it opens every day.
  • The phone number 02-6396-4804 appears in five posts' shop info and 0507-1360-7425 in one. Cake orders go through KakaoTalk; nobody said whether tables can be booked.
  • The cake line-up changes with the seasons. The winter 2025–26 Dubai cake is no longer sold, and a sweetcorn cheesecake had ended its season by September 2026. Two posts point to Instagram for the current line-up.
