Eungkeum Tteokbokki Yeonnam-jeom
응큼떡볶이 연남점 Eungkeum is a colloquial Korean word for sly or cheekily mischievous; tteokbokki is rice cakes simmered in chili sauce, and Yeonnam-jeom marks the Yeonnam-dong branch of the chain.

Eungkeum Tteokbokki Yeonnam is a franchise tteokbokki shop on the ground floor of 257-1 Donggyo-ro, a walk from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3. It is open 24 hours and serves alcohol; you order on a table tablet and the tteokbokki simmers on an induction plate at your table. The most-ordered dishes were rosé tteokbokki (KRW 14,900, nine posts) and the tteokbokki plus half-chicken set (KRW 15,900, seven posts). We read 30 posts from 17 August to 13 October 2026: 28 ate in, 2 took food away. Only one of the 30 disclosed sponsorship.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The most repeated praise here is for the fried food, not the rice cakes: seventeen posts said the chicken or fritters were crisp. Several expected little from the set's chicken and were surprised; one post was titled around leaving the tteokbokki and finishing the chicken. One post found the boneless pieces a bit light on meat.
- The order screen labels the original as a little hotter than Shin Ramyun, and one post says that is the mildest level. Three posts found it hot, two found it not hot at all, and four landed in between. The two that found it mild described it as sweet.
- Thirteen posts ordered on the table tablet. A separate takeout kiosk stands at the entrance, and six posts noticed many takeout or delivery customers; the delivery alerts rang constantly. One post said the tablet offers English, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese.
- The room is small: four posts said so and one called it roomy. One counted about six tables, and another arrived at weekend lunch to find a single table left. Two said the tables are not cramped.
4 more
- Six posts mentioned the windows: folding doors and large panes left open give it a street-stall feel, and three posts said guests can doodle on the glass with markers.
- Ten posts called it good value and none called it expensive; two noted soju and beer at KRW 4,500. Six saw the in-store offer of a free Asahi, soju or soft drink for writing a receipt review.
- Six posts got something unordered on the house: dumplings, fried mini dumplings, popcorn dumplings, sweet-potato fritters or two pieces of chicken. It varies by visit.
- Five posts noticed many foreign customers; one was surprised there were more foreigners than Koreans.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station
7 posts say it is walkable from the station.
Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 2 (of 27 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Toilet inside | yes 1 · no 1 (of 27 posts read) |
Two posts saw that the shop is at street level; none mentioned a basement or upstairs seating.
We don't know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post said the entrance is a folding door, but nobody mentioned a step, which means it went unrecorded, not that there isn't one.
Posts disagree on the toilet: one says it is inside, one says you reach it through the back door, and one only mentions a door code. Nobody said whether it is split by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- The pan is left on high heat, and two posts said the bottom scorched quickly. One said the fritters came out last while the tteokbokki reduced, and advised turning the heat on only once they arrive. Another post said food came very fast.
- Thirty posts arrived within two months of the September 2026 opening, repeating the same orders and title templates. Only one disclosed sponsorship, but the rest did not say they paid either. Menu slogans like the 'No. 1 rosé' claim are the shop's own words, copied by bloggers, and we did not count them.
- Only two posts addressed waiting: one said no wait on weekends, the other found one table left at weekend lunch and warned there may be a wait. We know nothing about evenings or late night.
- Seven posts found it walkable, timing it at 7, 7, 10 and 12 minutes from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3; the 12-minute post thought a bus might be easier.
- Opening hours: 22 posts gave the same 24 hours, every day, no closing day, but most copied a listing; only one read it off a sign in the shop.
- Prices mostly agree, with one exception: the tteok-twi-sun and fish-cake soup set appears as KRW 24,900 in October and KRW 26,900 in September. The half-chicken set is KRW 15,900, plus KRW 2,000 for boneless. A plate of tteokbokki starts at KRW 8,900.
- The phone number 0507-1364-4792 was copied by ten posts. Reservations and group bookings appear only in copied listings; no one said they booked.
- This is a franchise branch; three posts said so or mentioned other locations.
