BOSS KIMBAP

보스김밥 Boseu Gimbap "Boss" is the English word written in Hangul; gimbap is rice and fillings rolled in seaweed.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A gimbap shop at 138 Seongmisan-ro, ground floor, right by the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Yeonnam-dong. You order at a kiosk, collect your tray when your number appears, and return it to a drop-off counter. People come for the house roll with stir-fried carrot and potato, keto rolls wrapped in a thick egg sheet instead of rice, and the one-person combo of a roll, a cup of sweet fried chicken and seaweed soup (10,500–11,000 won). We read 30 posts dated 4 August to 28 October 2026; 9 were about neighbouring places and were set aside, leaving 21 records of eating here.

Rows without a count: 4 of 16 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Crunch is the most repeated remark about the fried chicken: 16 of the 18 posts that described texture said so, some down to the sound ('kwasak!') and the thin batter. Seven called the glaze sweet and two said it was not spicy. One post noted the green chili is placed to the side rather than on top. One writer loved the first bite but tired of a seasoning taste by the end.
  2. Ordering is by kiosk — 11 posts said so. You pick up at the counter when your number appears and leave dishes at a return station marked RETURN. One post noted numbers are also announced in English; four posts mentioned seeing foreign customers.
  3. Several writers expected a takeaway counter and were surprised by how much seating there is — 11 posts described it: a window bar for solo diners, built-in sofas and two- and four-person tables inside. Two mentioned baskets for bags under the seats, two the view of the park through the windows, and one the power outlets people used to charge phones.
  4. Six posts said they walked from Hongik University Station exit 3 along the forest park; one put it at about ten minutes on foot.

  1. Food comes fast: one August 2026 post got its set two minutes after ordering, and noted the chicken clearly was not fried to order, though it was still crisp.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot1 of 20 posts

Thirteen posts touched on parking, but nearly all simply copied a 'no parking' line; one wrote in its own words that there is no parking and public transport is easier. Some suggested a nearby public car park.

Where it is

Map showing where BOSS KIMBAP is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Six posts said they walked from Hongik University Station exit 3 along the forest park; one put it at about ten minutes on foot.

Getting inside

No one described the floor or any steps from experience; only the address says ground floor.

No one said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. We simply don't know.

Two posts mentioned the toilet; both said you reach the building's restroom through a door inside the shop, so it is not a toilet inside the shop itself. No one said whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • No one reported queuing. Some said the tables were nearly full or customers kept coming in, but no one gave a waiting time. One post noted a green bench outside for those waiting.
  • Who people went with doesn't add up to a pattern: family in two posts (one with a child), a boyfriend in one, a friend in one, alone in one. Many say it suits solo diners, but mostly as an impression.
  • Sixteen posts list hours, all 10:00–21:00. Twelve give a 14:00–16:00 break, eight of them saying weekdays only and four not specifying; eleven give last order at 20:00, and one says no closing day. Most of these are copied listings, so check before going.
  • Prices vary a little between posts. The combo was 10,500 won in one August 2026 post and 11,000 won in two October posts. A 21 October menu table shows every roll 1,000 won higher than posts from 8–9 October (house roll 6,500 vs 5,500), yet the next day's post paid the lower 7,500 for the egg-tuna roll, so we can't say prices rose. Two posts said it was not expensive.
  • Several posts give the phone number as 1811-8055. One writer booked ahead through Naver Reservation.
  • Phrases like 'rice cooked in deep broth', 'familiar home side dishes rolled into gimbap' and 'seaweed soup with every combo' recur almost word for word across many posts. These are the shop's own lines, copied, and we did not count them. One post disclosed sponsorship.
