Japanese

Suage

스아게 강남점 Seuage Gangnam-jeom Suage (素揚げ) is the Japanese way of frying ingredients bare, with no batter — the vegetables in the soup curry are cooked this way.

A Sapporo-style soup curry shop on the second floor of a building on Bongeunsa-ro 4-gil, near exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon station. You pick a curry, then tick spice level (1–6), rice size and toppings on a paper slip for the staff; a bowl runs from 13,000 won for the vegetable curry to about 16,000 won for Hawaiian shrimp, plus 2,000 won for cheese on the rice. We read 30 posts dated 17 December 2025 to 28 October 2026; after setting aside 8 about other branches or other shops, all 22 remaining describe actual visits.

Rows without a count: 7 of 11 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Lunch means a wait. Of fourteen posts that discussed waiting, eight met a queue or said lunch requires one, five walked straight in. Recorded waits: about 40 minutes on a weekend lunch via CatchTable, about 10 minutes around noon on a weekday. One post arriving at 11:40 got the last three-person table. The five who walked in came at 1–1:30 pm, right after the afternoon break, on a weekday evening, or over the Chuseok holiday. The queue runs on CatchTable or an in-store tablet/kiosk.
  2. Nine posts called the room clean — wood tones, round lamps, and in one post full-height glass that makes it feel open. Two posts noted aprons, disposable gloves and hair ties set out by the entrance.
  3. Five posts come from repeat visitors — one on a fourth visit, another describing it as a regular team lunch spot. Six posts say they ate alone, many of them nearby office workers. Two posts said once was enough.
  4. Spice runs from level 1 to 6, and several posts repeat that level 4 equals Shin Ramyun. Yet two posts that ordered level 4 said it was barely or not at all spicy; three found level 3–4 pleasantly hot.
2 more
  1. Three posts found the bowl generous even without extras; one with added toppings said it overflowed. One post that ordered the small rice said it was only about half a portion.
  2. Walkable from the subway: three posts walked it, one taking about 10 minutes from Gangnam station. Figures like '190 m from Sinnonhyeon exit 6' are copied listings.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 6 (of 20 posts read)

Not a basement — the shop is on the second floor. Six posts say they went up; two mention climbing stairs. One got lost looking on the ground floor; another says the entrance is to the right of the GS25 downstairs.

Nobody mentioned a lift, a step at the door, or wheelchair or stroller access. Two posts describe climbing stairs to the second floor; that is all we know.

One post says you take the toilet key from the counter. Whether the toilet is inside the shop or split by gender, nobody said.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on space split: one post found it much bigger than expected, three called it small or the two-seat tables cramped.
  • Prices rose between March and August 2026: posts from December 2025 and March 2026 list the fried chicken leg curry at 13,000 won, the combo at 14,000 and cheese at 1,500; from August it is 14,000, 15,000 and 2,000. One October post lists Hawaiian shrimp at 17,000 against 16,000 in two others. One diner adding three toppings passed 30,000 won.
  • Twelve posts give opening hours, mostly copied from listings: weekdays 11:30–21:30 with a 15:00–17:00 break, Saturday 12:00–21:00, closed Sunday; three say there is no break on weekends and holidays. One post lists Monday–Saturday 11:30–21:30, and two give different last orders, 20:30 and 20:50.
  • Five posts copy the phone number 0507-1364-4161. No one booked by phone; the only queueing anyone describes is through CatchTable or the in-store tablet.
