Chinese

Kai Gangnamyeok-jeom

카이 강남역점 Kai is the Chinese reading (kǎi) of 凱, the character for a victory song as in 凱旋 'triumphal return'; the sign out front shows that single character.

Compiled from 11 blog posts read in fullSources →

A ground-floor Chinese restaurant down a side street (Teheran-ro 8-gil) between Gangnam and Yeoksam stations, known for its many private rooms for office dinners and gatherings. Visitors ordered dry black-bean noodles with egg (11,000 won), seafood jjamppong (13,000 won) and a small kkanpunggi (36,000 won). We read 30 posts from July 15, 2025 to October 17, 2026; 12 were about this restaurant and 11 describe a visit. Eight of those eleven appeared between October 4 and 14, 2026, ordering the same three dishes and listing the same seven seafoods in the same order. None discloses sponsorship, but they read like a single template.

Rows without a count: 5 of 7 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Nine of the eleven visit posts mention the private rooms. Most quote 5 to 20 people per room; two say up to 33, and one explains that staff can open several rooms into one — that writer counted about six rooms of roughly eight seats each. The central hall is described as four-person tables.
  2. All eight posts that ordered the kkanpunggi call it crisp — one says it stayed crisp as it cooled, and several single out the fried chilies on top as cracker-crisp.
  3. Four posts say it is an easy walk from the subway: four to five minutes from Gangnam Station exit 1, turning into a side street toward Yeoksam where the single-character 凱 sign appears. One post gives exit 3 and six minutes instead.
  4. Three posts say walls of celebrity autographs greet you at the door. Claims that celebrities come often are hearsay and we did not count them.

Four posts say you can park. Three give the rate as the first 60 minutes free, then 3,000 won per 30 minutes; one notes a lot right next to the restaurant, and another suggests calling ahead.

Where it is

Map showing where Kai Gangnamyeok-jeom is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Four posts say it is an easy walk from the subway: four to five minutes from Gangnam Station exit 1, turning into a side street toward Yeoksam where the single-character 凱 sign appears. One post gives exit 3 and six minutes instead.

Getting inside

No post describes which floor it is on from experience; only the address says ground floor.

We don't know whether the entrance has a step or works for wheelchairs and strollers; one post notes a front and a back door, nothing more.

We don't know where the restroom is. 'Separate men's and women's restrooms' appears only in one copied info block, not from anyone's visit.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 12 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices went up between April and October 2026: dry black-bean noodles from 10,000 to 11,000 won, chili fried chicken from 35,000 to 38,000, beef jjamppong from 11,000 to 12,000. Opinions split too — the April writer says it is honestly not cheap, while an October post calls 9,000-won noodles good value for Gangnam. A noodle meal runs a little over 10,000 won.
  • Eight of the eleven visit posts (October 2026) share one template — same three dishes, same seafood list, same Naver booking promotion. We counted each, but that bundle is why the kkanpunggi, noodles and jjamppong dominate. Only three visits fall outside it: a June 2025 jjamppong-rice lunch, a March 2026 sweet-and-sour pork, and an April 2026 eggplant rice and noodles.
  • Heat is disputed: three posts say neither the kkanpunggi nor the jjamppong is spicy, one calls it moderately hot, and one says mildly spicy.
  • No one reports waiting. One writer went around 5 p.m. on a weekend to avoid a line and says weekday lunch and dinner get packed, but no one gives a wait time. Two posts say food came out quickly.
  • Who people came with doesn't cluster: one office dinner, one with a friend, one with a spouse.
  • Opening hours come only from copied info. Five posts agree on 11:15-22:00 weekdays and 11:20-21:30 weekends with a 15:00-16:30 break; two give last orders at 20:45 weekdays and 20:15 weekends. Two others list different daily hours. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Six posts give the same phone number, 02-563-0999. Several mention a Naver booking promotion with a monthly free dish, but none says they actually booked; one advises calling ahead for groups up to 33.
