Cheongnyeon Gamjatang Gangnamyeok-jeom

청년감자탕 강남역점 Cheongnyeon means 'youth' or 'young man', and gamjatang is the pork-backbone and potato stew the house is built around.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

Cheongnyeon Gamjatang's Gangnam Station branch is a pork-bone stew and soup house on the ground floor of a building on Yeoksam-ro 7-gil, across from the Yeoksam 1-dong community center near exit 4 of the Sinbundang line. Most posts describe two people sharing a small Cheongnyeon gamjatang (35,000 won), its bones stacked in a tower, then finishing with noodles and kkakdugi fried rice; some come at lunch for a single bowl of pork-bone soup (11,000 won). Posts from June 2026 on say instant noodles are unlimited with any gamjatang; earlier menus charged 2,000 won. We read 30 posts from December 2024 to October 2026; 29 describe eating there (one took food home). Sixteen were published between 30 August and 13 October 2026 with the same hashtags, and three of those disclose sponsorship.

Rows without a count: 12 of 18 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. A small feeds two. Twenty-four posts said the portions are large. Several counted five bones in a small; one counted six or seven and another six big chunks. The pot arrives stacked so high that staff move two or three bones into a separate bowl to add later. Three posts planned on fried rice and were too full to order it.
  2. Staff stir-fry the rice at your table — five posts describe it, with the cheese version pressed flat and topped with cheese. Several posts also say staff top up the broth unasked when it runs low.
  3. Nine posts said the pork had no off smell; none said it did. One June 2026 post had read complaints of dry meat but found its own bowl tender.
  4. Side dishes are refilled from a self-service bar — nine posts mention it, stocked with kimchi, radish kimchi, onion, hot green chilies, aprons and plates.
2 more
  1. You order on a device at the table — seven posts mention it, calling it a POS terminal (2024), a kiosk (2025–26) or a tablet (late 2025 and 2026). One post notes it prints no receipt; ask at the counter.
  2. Eight posts found staff friendly: they portion out the bones, cut the greens and explain when to add noodles. One July 2026 post differed, finding communication with staff hard and the room smoky from a staff meal cooking in the kitchen.

Posts saying you can park2 of 29 posts

Nearly every post repeats 'two hours free parking', mostly copied from the sign or the listing. Two posts actually drove: one said the building lot made it easy, the other found space two days running and registered the car at the counter after eating. No one says what happens past two hours.

Getting inside

Separate restrooms1 of 29 posts

There is a second floor above the ground-floor hall: eight posts mention it and three sat downstairs. A December 2024 post saw overflow guests sent upstairs; another noticed the stairs but never went up. Some posts mention a bar counter for solo diners.

We don't know about steps at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift — not because there are none, but because no post mentions them. One post says the second floor is up a flight of stairs.

Only two posts mention the toilets: in February 2025 they were outside the restaurant, and in September 2026 they were locked with separate codes for men and women. No one mentions an accessible toilet.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three posts describe walking from exit 4 of Gangnam Station, about five to seven minutes. Other posts' four-, six- or seven-minute figures are copied from listings. No one came by bus.
  • No post gives a wait in minutes. A regular says there is a queue at peak lunch and dinner; another went at 5:30 on a weekday to avoid one and watched it fill after six. A solo diner at 11:40 found no free table but was seated at the bar.
  • Opening hours have changed: posts from December 2024 and March 2025 show a 10:30 opening, a July 2025 post 10:00, and every post since November 2025 Monday–Saturday 9:00–23:00 (last order 22:30) and Sunday 10:00–22:00 (last order 21:30). These are mostly copied from listings. One post says open every day of the year; two say there is no afternoon break.
  • Prices have risen: pork-bone soup went from 10,000 won (March 2025) to 11,000 (2026), the aged-kimchi version from 11,000 to 12,000, and kkakdugi fried rice from 3,000 (through November 2025) to 5,000 (June 2026). The stew itself stayed at 35,000 for a small. One post called 13,000 won for a soup objectively not cheap.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 02-539-8886 and the Naver relay number 0507-1349-8886. One post booked ahead and was glad of it; group-size and private-room booking details are only copied from listings.
  • Of posts that say who they came with: three with friends, three as a couple, two with family, one alone. None brought children, so we don't know about high chairs or kids' options.
  • Sixteen posts between 30 August and 13 October 2026 carry the same hashtags and list free parking, unlimited noodles and an 80-seat capacity in the same order. Two disclose a review-program invitation and one a sponsorship; the rest say nothing. We counted what they report, but read them knowing they may be promotional.
