Ari Gyegok

아리계곡 Gyegok means a mountain valley with a stream; the room is built around an indoor waterfall, stones and a wooden deck to match the name.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Korean drinking house on the ground floor of a building on Teheran-ro 1-gil, about five minutes on foot from Gangnam Station exit 11. The room is dressed as a mountain valley with an indoor waterfall and wooden deck. The menu centres on chicken hotpot (22,900 won clear, 23,900 spicy) and a whole fried duck hung on an iron hook (19,900); couples mostly ordered the two together as the 40,800-won duck set. We read 30 posts dated 10 July to 19 October 2026; 27 of them record actually eating here.

Rows without a count: 19 of 22 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order by scanning a QR code on the table — nine posts said so, and one found the dim lighting made it a little hard to scan. Payment is at the door on the way out.
  2. Opinions split on noise: eight posts called it loud — one says they had to shout to talk — and six found it calm enough to talk. Several of the calm ones sat in a corner or a partitioned booth; one post said there are no private rooms or dividers at all.
  3. A small dish of pickled radish comes free when you sit down — six posts mentioned a starter on the table, four of them naming the radish.
  4. Eight posts said portions are large: one thought the two-person duck set would feed three, and a table of four was satisfied with the three-person set.
2 more
  1. Four posts said the chicken and duck had no gamey smell; one noticed a slight one in the chicken.
  2. This is one branch of a chain — five posts mentioned other branches (Konkuk University, Wangsimni) or called it a franchise; one said the Wangsimni branch is two floors and quieter.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 26 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 26 posts read)

Two posts describe it as a ground-floor shop. One copied address says basement level 1, which we treat as a typo and did not count. No one mentions an upstairs.

We do not know whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair can get in — not because there is a problem, but because no post said.

One post says the toilet is outside the restaurant. The "separate men's and women's toilets" line in other posts is copied listing data, so we did not rely on it.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Waiting depends on the night. Four posts waited — one queued 20 minutes behind four groups, another found two groups ahead at 7 pm on a Tuesday. Three walked straight in (a Sunday at 7 pm and two weeknights), and four are inconclusive (a line outside but seated by luck, empty at 5 pm). A CatchTable tablet at the door takes your phone number and messages you on KakaoTalk; one post mentions seats for waiting.
  • Fifteen posts walked from Gangnam Station, most saying five minutes from exit 11; one gives about nine minutes from Sinnonhyeon exit 6. No one came by bus.
  • Thirteen posts went with friends, seven with a partner or spouse, four in a larger group such as coworkers. None went alone or with children.
  • Twenty-one posts list opening hours, nearly all copied from the listing: 5 pm to 1 am Monday to Thursday, 4:30 pm to 1 am Friday to Sunday. One says 5 pm daily and one says 5:30 pm on weekdays. No post mentions a closing day, break time or last order.
  • Nine posts called it cheap or good value and none called it expensive. Two gave a total: 41,800 won for two (the duck set with a hotpot swap) and 58,700 won for two including drinks. All prices are from posts dated July to October 2026.
  • Four posts say you can book through Naver; one adds that phone reservations close at 6 pm and cap at eight people. Most posts give the phone number 0507-1393-7153; one gives 070-7542-4970.
  • Many posts from October 2026 share the same opening info block and the same closing listing link, and two follow a contents-and-FAQ format. None disclose sponsorship, though one says "next time I'd come on my own money". Seven say they paid themselves.
