Gogung-ui Achim
고궁의아침 Gogung-ui achim means 'morning at the old palace' — posts say the name comes from sitting right across the road from Changgyeonggung Palace.
Compiled from 28 blog posts read in fullSources →
A Korean-beef bulgogi house on the Wonnam-dong crossroads, across from Changgyeonggung Palace and next to the main gate of Seoul National University Hospital. Most people order two portions of Seoul-style bulgogi, simmered at the table in a shallow pan of broth, which comes with eight or nine side dishes and rice; at lunch there are single dishes such as short-rib soup and beef-tartare bibimbap. Bulgogi was 28,000 won a portion in posts up to mid-July 2026 and 29,000 won after. We read 30 posts dated 6 May to 6 October 2026; 27 of them record an actual meal. 'Since 1975' is the shop's own line, repeated by many posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Twenty-three posts mention private rooms. The front hall has tables for two and four; the back is almost all rooms, named after Joseon court offices. One post saw a room made by joining two eight-seat tables for 16; another was shown to a room on arrival and never crossed paths with other diners. Eleven posts call the place large.
- Thirteen posts say the portions are large and two say they are not. One pair of big eaters ordered three portions and couldn't finish; against that, one post says the domed pan only makes it look like a lot, and another thinks two grown men would need to order extra.
- Thirteen posts say the seasoning is mild or not salty, and none says it is salty; the side dishes are described the same way. Sweetness is split: seven posts call the bulgogi sweet, one says it is more savoury soy than sweet, and eight only say it is 'not too sweet'.
- Seven posts booked ahead, mostly through Naver, some with the order pre-set; they found the table already laid and food ready on arrival.
2 more
- Seven posts mention the big front windows; one says you can see the palace wall across the road, another that the tinted glass keeps passers-by from seeing in.
- Of the eight posts that say who they came with, five were with a mother or parents — two straight after an outpatient appointment at the hospital. One each came with a spouse, a friend, and colleagues.

Parking
4 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

There is no lot of the restaurant's own; diners use the Samsung Cancer Research Institute car park inside the hospital grounds. Fifteen posts discuss parking and four actually parked there. They report 2,000 won per 10 minutes, and that spending over 55,000 won lets you buy a two-hour ticket for 2,000 won at the counter. Weekend kerbside parking by the palace is repeated only by two near-identical posts.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| Separate restrooms | 1 of 28 posts |
|---|
Nobody says which floor it is on or whether there are stairs; only the address says ground floor.
Nobody reports a step at the door or going in with a wheelchair or pushchair. One post thought the pavement from the hospital looked wheelchair-friendly; 'wheelchair-accessible entrance' is copied from the listing. One post photographed a high chair.
Nobody says whether the toilet is inside the restaurant; one post says it is separated by sex, another that it was clean.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices changed. Bulgogi was 28,000 won a portion in posts from May to mid-July 2026 and 29,000 won from a 17 July receipt on; two posts a day apart disagree, so we don't know the exact date. Two portions for two people now come to 58,000 won; lunch single dishes run 11,000 to 19,000 won.
- All the opening hours are copied from listings. Most give 9:00–21:00 weekdays and 10:00–21:00 weekends, a break 15:30–16:40, last orders 15:00 and 20:30, and an 8 p.m. close on Sundays without bookings. Two May 2026 posts give a 15:30–16:30 weekday break and a second 17:30–18:30 weekend break, which no post from June repeats. One post says 11:00–22:00 daily.
- Seven posts give the phone number 0507-1333-7620; others list 02-762-7620, 02-566-6178, or garbled versions. Most who reserved did so through Naver.
- No post reports queuing. Three are inconclusive: a short wait to be seated, a nearly full room, and a post that heard there is usually a line but walked straight in. Three posts note waiting chairs inside the entrance. We don't know how long the lunchtime wait is.
- Two posts came by bus and found it a short walk from the stop; one says it is awkward to reach by subway. The '843 m from Jongno 5-ga Exit 1' and 13–14 minutes from Hyehwa figures are copied from the listing.
- Of the 27 meal posts, three disclose a sponsorship or free meal, one says the writer paid, and twenty-three say nothing. Nearly all use the same 'near SNU Hospital / near Changgyeonggung, good for parents' framing; two are word-for-word the same, and three reuse the shop's own blurb. Read the counts with that in mind.
