Kise Katsu Anguk-yeok-jeom

키세카츠 안국역점 Kise is the Japanese reading of 氣勢 (spirit, momentum) and katsu doubles as 勝つ, to win — the shop ties the name to the Japanese habit of eating katsu before a big day to wish for victory.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

Kise Katsu's Anguk branch is a Japanese-style tonkatsu restaurant on the second floor of the INNO88 Tower at Yulgok-ro 88, across from Changdeokgung. As of autumn 2026 posts, tenderloin katsu is 14,900 won and the signature Nagoya miso katsu set, where staff pour miso sauce over katsu on a sizzling iron plate, is 18,900 won; sets come with hot udon, cold soba or cold udon. There are also rice bowls such as salmon and pork-belly donburi, mazesoba, kimchi katsu nabe and draught beer. We read 28 posts from December 2025 to October 2026, 25 of them from actual visits. We set aside one post about the café downstairs, and did not count the shop's own write-up or a building directory post.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order from a tablet at your seat; eight posts said so, and one noted the screen works in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese. One post requested rice and side refills through the same screen.
  2. There are both bar seats and tables for two and four; eight posts described both. Of the two solo diners, one wrote that he was seated at the counter because he came alone.
  3. Four posts got extra rice, soup or side dishes; one noted even the wild-garlic pickles are refilled, and another went back for a second bowl of tonjiru, the pork miso soup.
  4. Thirteen posts called the coating crisp. One noted the underside of the tenderloin went a little soggy from the juices, though the coating stayed on.

  1. Two posts saw high chairs. Of the two families who brought a baby, one also found baby tableware and staff who were kind to the child.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read)

The restaurant sits at the far end of the building's second floor. Eighteen posts described going up to eat there, usually by escalator from the lobby.

No post mentions a wheelchair. One family brought a stroller in and parked it by the table, and two posts note the building has a lift. Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance, so we don't know whether there is one.

One post says the toilet is the building's shared one on the same floor, not inside the restaurant. Nobody mentioned whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices have gone up. In December 2025 the tenderloin katsu was 13,900 won and kimchi katsu nabe 12,900; by March 2026 they were 14,900 and 13,900, and the nabe was 14,900 by September. In autumn 2026 a single katsu runs 12,900 to 15,900 won and a noodle set 16,900 to 21,900 won.
  • The miso iron-plate katsu that March 2026 posts call Anguk's Miso is called Nagoya miso katsu from May on; same price and presentation, so we treat it as one dish. The premium loin is limited daily and one post found it gone on a weekend afternoon; another found the miso katsu and garlic tteokbokki cheese katsu sold out at dinner.
  • Fourteen posts list hours of 11:00 to 21:00, twelve of them with a 16:00–17:00 break, mostly copied from the shop's listing. Last order is 20:00 in four posts and 20:30 in one. Days off disagree: one April 2026 post says closed Mondays, one September post says open every day of the year, the rest say daily. The Monday-closure post also gives a different phone number (0507-1434-9179); everyone else lists 0507-1338-1981. One family booked ahead.
  • Only one post mentions a queue: no wait at 1 pm on a weekend, but two or three groups were waiting after they ordered. A December 2025 post said groups of four or more sometimes had to wait for a table, and two posts said the room filled up soon after they sat down.
  • Two posts describe actually walking from Anguk Station. The figures of 344 m from Exit 4 or one minute from Exit 6 are copied from the listing, so we don't rely on them.
  • Four posts say they paid their own way and one says it received a meal voucher. Several September–October 2026 posts push the same Changdeokgung-date and free-parking lines in the same order, and a few March–April posts reuse the shop's own promotional wording about imported Japanese props and tiles. None disclose sponsorship, but they look templated, so we did not rely on that wording.
