Mongchon Dakgalbi
몽촌닭갈비 Mongchon is a Songpa place name, as in the nearby Mongchon earthen fortress; dakgalbi is chicken stir-fried on an iron griddle.

Mongchon Dakgalbi sits across from Seokchon Lake near Bangi junction, in the Jamsil Daewoo Lakeworld building at 298 Seokchonhosu-ro. It serves herbal dakgalbi: chicken in a soy-based sauce made with herbal-medicine ingredients, 17,000 won a portion according to four posts. You stir it on the griddle until a timer rings, then staff add the noodles and cheese and finish it with a peanut sauce. Eleven posts ended with perilla-oil fried rice at 3,500 won. We read 30 posts dated 23 April to 21 October 2026. We set aside two about the Pangyo Hyundai branch and two about other shops, which left 26 posts from people who actually ate here.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- Expect to wait. Fourteen posts queued. The six that gave minutes said 20 twice, 30 three times and 40 once. One post arrived ten minutes before a weekend opening and still missed the first seating. Another walked around the lake while 50 parties waited ahead on a weekend evening. Three posts walked straight in: one on a weekday in August at 5:30 pm, one at a late lunch. Two posts say CatchTable remote queuing opens at 5:30 pm, and one says it is unavailable at lunch, when you sign up on the tablet at the door.
- Eight posts mention seats outside for waiting. One describes waiting areas on both sides of the shop front, and another mentions a cooler beside the chairs.
- Twelve posts say staff finish the dish. Staff set a chicken-shaped timer and you stir so the sauce does not stick. When it rings, staff come back to add the noodles, chives and glass noodles, torch the cheese and pour peanut sauce on the griddle and your plate. Stirring times in the posts were 6–7, 8, 11 and 14 minutes. One writer said eight minutes of non-stop stirring wore out their arms.
- Side dishes are refilled from a self-service bar, according to nine posts. The standard set is onion kimchi, perilla leaves, kelp noodles in mayonnaise and mustard or pickled cabbage; one writer went back for perilla leaves twice.
4 more
- Seven posts found the portions large. One couple left a lot of a two-portion order, another left fried rice unfinished, and one family's bowls of rice came heaped. One more post only said the amount was not small.
- Four posts call the sauce sweet, one likening it to black bean paste. On heat they split: two found it spicy, one said it is not spicy at all.
- Seven posts went with friends, three with family and two as couples. Two of the family visits brought children.
- Three posts saw celebrity autographs on the wall. Claims about TV personalities or idols eating here are hearsay, and we did not count them.

Parking

Only one post actually parked: two hours in the building's basement car park on Chuseok, with plenty of space. Seven others just copied the two-hour basement parking note and the advice to use nearby paid lots when it is full.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 22 posts read) |
|---|---|
| Separate restrooms | 1 of 22 posts |
Only one post mentions the floor, saying it is at street level on the main road. The ground floor in the address is copied information, so we did not count it.
Nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That means we do not know, not that there is no access.
One post described the toilet: separate men's and women's rooms in the building, and bring your own tissue. Another post's copied info says the toilets are inside the shop, so we cannot tell whether they are in the restaurant or shared with the building.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know
- Saltiness divides opinion: two posts found it salty, two did not. One October repeat visitor felt the herbal taste had faded and the seasoning got stronger. That is one person's view, so we have not recorded it as a change.
- Three posts found the music loud: one could not hear the staff's instructions, another found it hard to talk. One post said it was not that loud. Several mention old Korean pop from the 1970s to the 2000s.
- Three posts found the staff kind; one was brought a stain remover after sauce splashed her clothes. One post called the staff rude after a dispute over the queue.
- Two posts found the chairs uncomfortable; one said none of them have backrests. A family visiting at Chuseok was told the high chair was broken.
- Two posts gave directions from a station: a six-minute walk from Songpanaru Station exit 1, and a route from Seokchon Station exit 2. Copied info elsewhere gives five minutes from Songpanaru and eleven from Jamsil.
- Eight posts list opening hours, all copied from store info. Most give weekdays 11:30–21:30 with a 15:00–17:00 break. For weekends, four say 12:00 opening with a 15:30–17:00 break and two say 11:30 every day. An April post puts the weekday break at 15:30 as well. Last orders are given as 14:00 and 20:30, or 13:55 and 20:25. Only one post mentions closing days, saying it is open year-round.
- Prices: herbal dakgalbi 17,000 won a portion (four posts), perilla-oil fried rice 3,500 won (four posts). Cheese is given as 4,000 won in October and 4,500 won in September. Two posts gave a bill: 51,500 won for two portions with a noodle bundle and cold kalguksu, and 55,000 won for two people. One called it a little pricier than an ordinary restaurant; another called it reasonable.
- One post lists the phone number as 070-8810-6789; two say there is no phone. Copied info in another post says reservations are not taken and you get in through on-site sign-up or CatchTable queuing.
