Matdaeum is an izakaya on a side street of Songnidan-gil, near exit 2 of Seokchon Station (22 Songpa-daero 44-gil, ground floor). A U-shaped bar fills the middle of the room, with a window counter, four-seat tables and a private room with a door around it. Nearly every post ordered the same two dishes: a plate of aged sashimi and a fish-cake hotpot that comes in a huge stockpot. Ordered together as the signature set, they cost 57,000 won in posts from April–May 2026 and 61,000 won in posts from late August on. You order with a QR code at your seat. Posts say that in spring 2026 this place reopened here as an izakaya; before that it was a bar called Super Matdaeum near Songpanaru Station. We read 31 posts dated September 2025 to October 2026. 28 of them describe visits to the current place. We set aside the other 3: one is about a different restaurant and two are about the old Super Matdaeum.

What sets it apart
- The fish-cake hotpot really does come in a deep stockpot. 16 posts said the portion is big. One said two people couldn't finish it; another said the pot was big enough to make samgyetang in. It keeps boiling on a burner at your seat, and three posts counted seven skewers in it.
- It isn't bar seating only. 15 posts mention tables or a private room in addition to the U-shaped bar. 8 posts mention the private room. A group of six who booked it said it holds 6 to 10 people and has a door that closes; another post said it seats 8. 6 posts mention window seats that look out onto the alley.
- You order on your own phone by scanning the QR code at your seat. 12 posts said so, and two of them named the CatchOrder app. In one post the diner ordered the wrong thing by QR and a staff member helped fix it.
- 21 posts said the staff were kind, and they said why. Staff let one diner taste a love-it-or-hate-it rice liquor before ordering it. They asked another how strong to make a highball and poured some of the base spirit on the side. They brought a blanket for a pregnant guest, and gave one table extra mackerel sashimi on the house after hearing they liked it.

- A small complimentary side comes with your order. 7 posts mentioned it, describing stir-fried mustard-leaf kimchi or a seasoned salad. You also get two separate soy sauces, one for sashimi and one for the fish cakes.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That doesn't mean there is a problem; we just don't know. One post said the restaurant is on the ground floor.

What we do not know
- One post said that on a weekend the place filled up right at 7 pm and a queue formed. Others said it filled up after 6 pm, or was full on a Friday evening. 4 posts said they booked ahead, through Naver booking or CatchTable.
- Posts say this place has changed location and name. Two posts from September–October 2025 cover Super Matdaeum Jamsil (34 Baekjegobun-ro 45-gil, near Songpanaru Station). That was a casual bar with a terrace where you picked drinks and snacks into a basket, and its menu was different (red-crab fish-cake stew, whole-squid gambas). A post from April 2026 relays that the old outdoor bar reopened as this izakaya, and a May post says it moved. We did not count the old bar's posts toward the current one.
- Prices went up. The sashimi plate was 34,000 won in posts from May–June 2026, 36,000 in July and 38,000 in September–October. The set went from 57,000 to 61,000 won. The hotpot stayed at 26,000 throughout. On value, 4 posts called it good value for money, and 2 said it isn't cheap but they didn't mind paying.
- 22 posts give the same opening hours, 5 pm to 1 am; one August 2026 post says until 2 am. Most of these are copied from the restaurant's listing. The day off seems to have changed. Posts from April–May 2026 said it closed on Mondays (3) or Tuesdays (2); most posts from June on say it opens every day. But a post from 30 August still listed Monday as the day off, and one from 12 September listed Tuesday. 3 posts give last orders at midnight.
- Posts give two phone numbers. Three posts from May–June 2026, plus one from 12 September, list 0507-1323-5152; five posts from late August on list 010-5870-0560. People booked through Naver or CatchTable. One post said Naver booking lets you pick bar or table seating.
- 6 posts were dates and 6 were outings with friends. There was one family gathering and one wedding-invitation get-together of six. Several posts noticed people drinking alone, but none of the writers went alone.
- The posts follow one template. Most repeat the same phrases word for word: fish cakes that are '90% fish', 'aged sashimi by a Japanese-trained chef', and a 'wide U-shaped bar like a real Japanese izakaya'. Seven posts went up within three days, 17–19 September 2026. We treat those phrases as the restaurant's own copy and did not count them. One post disclosed sponsorship, two were review-program or comped visits, and one said the writer paid; the other 24 say nothing either way.
