Noodle houseKorean

Silla Jemyeon

신라제면 Silla is the ancient kingdom centred on Gyeongju, where this noodle house began; jemyeon means noodle-making.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

The Jamsil branch of Silla Jemyeon, a Gyeongju noodle house, on the sixth-floor dining level of Lotte World Mall. You order kal-nakji (stir-fried octopus with wide knife-cut noodles; kal-naksae adds shrimp) for two or more, add the fanned-out sliced potato pancake, and finish by mixing rice (3,000 won) into the leftover sauce. October 2026 posts give 15,000 won per person for kal-nakji, 17,000 for kal-naksae and 12,000 for the potato pancake. We read 28 posts from 24 August to 22 October 2026; 7 were about other shops in the same building (Signiel, Godiva, Hitsunoya) or the Gyeongju branch and were set aside. All of the remaining 21 describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait at dinner and on weekends. Eleven posts mention waiting, with times of 5, 20, 20, 30, 30-40 minutes, an hour and over an hour. One arrived at 7:30 pm on a weekday to find 17 groups ahead; another came before 5 pm on a Sunday with 9 ahead. Four others walked straight in, around 5 pm on weekdays or at 5:55. The queue runs on Tabling (remote sign-up works), and six posts say you choose your dishes while you wait.
  2. Five posts mention seats outside the shop for waiting, one noting a row of about four more chairs, another a waiting bench opposite. Because orders are taken in the queue, three posts say the food came almost as soon as they sat down.
  3. Even the mildest level comes up as hot again and again. Nineteen posts describe the spice and seventeen call it hot: one felt their face burn on the regular level, another put it above Shin Ramyun. One post said it was not that hot, about Shin Ramyun, and another found it fine while friends struggled. You choose among regular, slightly hot and hot.
  4. Eleven posts call the portions large. Two people sharing kal-nakji for two and a potato pancake left a fifth of the pancake and skipped the rice; another said it is really enough for three. Three posts, though, found less octopus than expected and more vegetables.
4 more
  1. Four posts note that kal-nakji and kal-naksae are sold from two portions; no post describes eating alone.
  2. Six posts describe a large hall with wide gaps between tables. Seating is mostly two- and four-tops; one post at a two-top ran out of room for its dishes.
  3. Three posts found it quiet; two of them were seated in the back behind a partition wall rather than in the main hall. Another counts about three tables behind that wall.
  4. Two posts saw high chairs themselves, one using one for their baby. Four more list a high chair in copied info blocks.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 7 (of 21 posts read)

It is on the sixth-floor dining level of Lotte World Mall, not underground. Seven posts say sixth floor; one describes taking the escalator up from the fifth-floor cinema side, another places it deep inside between Donghwa Gooak and Odeng Sikdang.

No post describes the entrance step or going in with a wheelchair or pram. One copied line says the entrance is wheelchair accessible; we did not count it. This means nobody wrote about it, not that access is lacking.

Nobody says whether the toilet is inside the shop or a shared mall facility; one line just calls it clean, as expected of the mall.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Prices rose between late September and October 2026. The 24 August post and two from 26 September give 14,000 won per person for kal-nakji and 11,000 for the potato pancake; October posts give 15,000, 17,000 for kal-naksae and 12,000. A 24 September post already shows a truncated '30,0' for two kal-nakji, so we cannot date the change exactly. Only one post weighed the price, saying it was not especially expensive.
  • No post describes the route from Jamsil Station; one only explains the escalator from the mall's fifth floor.
  • Thirteen posts give the same hours, 10:30 to 22:00 daily with last orders at 21:00, but all in copied info blocks. One adds that it opens every day except Chuseok itself, another says it never closes. One post got in at 8:30 pm and had to eat fast before the 9 pm last order.
  • Three posts copy the phone number 010-4991-5553. A Tabling notice copied in one post says phone reservations are not taken, and another says only Tabling works, not CatchTable. No post booked a table in advance.
  • Two posts are thin evidence. One from 22 October follows a template of info block and 'recommended for' list, with generic eating scenes. One from 12 October says it ordered kal-nakji yet describes a noodle-and-dough-flake dish. We counted both as visits but took few details from them.
