Haemok

해목 Haemok is written 海木 in hanja — 'sea' and 'tree'.

Compiled from 22 blog posts read in fullSources →

Haemok's Lotte World Mall branch is a Nagoya-style eel-rice (hitsumabushi) restaurant on the 6th-floor dining level of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil. A bowl with one whole freshwater eel is 40,000 won, one and a half eels 59,000; there is also a 38,000-won seafood bowl and tuna or salmon bowls in the 20,000s. Several posts describe a card at every seat telling you to split the rice in four: plain, with condiments, as ochazuke with broth, then your favourite. We read 30 posts from 1 September to 22 October 2026. Six were about other restaurants (mostly the Daegu branch) and were set aside, two only listed or introduced the place, and we counted the 22 that describe an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait. Of the 22 meals we counted, fifteen involved a wait and three walked straight in. Recorded waits: 10, 10, about 10, 15, 15, 15, 16, 20, 23, 30–40 and 40 minutes — one couple joined at 7pm behind 16 parties and waited 40 minutes; another joined at 6:44pm behind 16 parties and was seated in 23. Most joined the queue remotely via the Tabling app and browsed the mall meanwhile. One of the three who walked in came at 2pm on a weekday. One writer noted that if you are not at the door when called, the next party goes in.
  2. Besides regular tables there is floor-style seating. Four posts mention it, two saying you take your shoes off. One writer, though, described a booth where your legs drop into a well beneath the table, so some of what looks like floor seating may be that kind. A parent with a toddler called the roomy floor seats a lifesaver.
  3. Eleven posts said the room is larger than you'd expect for a mall restaurant — wide gaps between tables, a six-seat table for a party of five, plenty of room to park a stroller. One noted that the tables to the left of the entrance have bamboo blinds you can lower, but are dimly lit.
  4. Six posts said even the one-eel bowl filled them up; one warned light eaters might not finish it. Four described the eel as thick.
5 more
  1. Five posts found the glaze sweet; one warned it may not suit people who dislike sweetness. Saltiness split: two found it mild or under-seasoned, one found the ochazuke broth too salty.
  2. Seven posts called it expensive; one called the 20,000-won tuna bowls good value. One couple split a hitsumabushi and a 23,000-won bowl for 63,000 won because two eel bowls felt too dear; another pair spent 128,000 won on two large bowls, dessert and sake. Two writers felt the food was not special enough for the price.
  3. Couples on dates or anniversaries made up the largest group (seven posts), then family (three), friends (one) and a party of five (one). Four writers were repeat visitors, one claiming more than ten visits.
  4. Three posts saw high chairs and two went with children. One parent said there was ample room to park a stroller from the entrance in. The menu lists a 12,000-won kids' eel-and-egg bowl for 13 and under.
  5. Four posts said it is easy by subway, since Jamsil Station connects to the mall; two named Exit 10.

Three posts said you park in the Lotte World Mall garage at your own cost — there is no restaurant validation; one family paid about 5,000 won.

Separate restrooms1 of 22 posts

One post found it easy with a stroller, but nobody wrote about a step at the entrance or arriving by wheelchair, nor about taking a lift to the 6th floor. That is not evidence of barriers — just that no one said.

One post said there is no restroom inside; you use the mall's, which is separated by gender and clean. No other post mentioned restrooms.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 24 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Fifteen posts copied the hours as 10:30–22:00. Thirteen give last orders at 21:00 and one at 21:30. One post lists a 15:00–17:00 break while two say there is none. All of this is copied, not observed — check before going.
  • There are no reservations, only remote queueing, but posts disagree on the app: most say Tabling, two say CatchTable, and one says the restaurant is not on CatchTable. Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1396-4658 in six posts and 02-3213-4658 in three.
  • Four posts praised the staff. One found service uneven — a polite server, but another chatting loudly — and two said it gets noisy when full.
  • A regular of ten-plus visits said the eel used to come sauced but now arrives milder, with sauce on the side. That is one person's comparison; we don't know when it changed.
  • Several posts were about the Daegu Shinsegae branch of the same name and were excluded; its prices (e.g. 39,000-won hitsumabushi) and hours are not counted here. One 5 October post reads like promotional copy with a pasted review widget, so we counted little from it.
