Junghwa Yori Palgong

중화요리 팔공 Junghwa yori means Chinese cooking, and palgong is read as the digits eight-zero; none of the posts say why the house took the name.

Compiled from 23 blog posts read in fullSources →

Junghwa Yori Palgong is a Korean-Chinese restaurant on Nambusunhwan-ro 1680, between Bongcheon and Sillim stations. Order jjajangmyeon and it arrives as ganjjajang with a fried egg (10,000 won); the usual table for two is jjajangmyeon, Palgong seafood jjamppong (13,000 won) and a small yuringi (33,000 won). Several posts say solo diners are seated with strangers. We read 30 posts from May to October 2026: 23 from people who ate there, 6 list or takeaway posts, and 1 about another business.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. There is almost always a line: 22 of the 23 visits mention waiting. Recorded waits were 20 minutes, 30 minutes three times, 40, 50 twice, an hour four times, 1 h 20, and an hour and a half twice. One blogger arrived at 10:30, 50 minutes before opening, and was first. There is no ticket or list—you just stand—and three posts say the whole party must be present to be seated. Orders are taken in line as you near the door.
  2. There is nowhere to wait: two posts describe standing in full sun with no seating. Several others note the shop lends parasols on sunny days.
  3. Thirteen posts call the yuringi or other fried dishes crisp, often noting it stays crunchy to the end despite being served sauced.
  4. Eleven posts say portions are large; several couples could not finish a small yuringi and took the rest away, and seven posts confirm takeaway.
2 more
  1. Four posts were solo visits, and three of them were seated with strangers; one says the stranger thanked them because sharing let him in sooner. One post warns it is not the place for a quiet meal alone.
  2. Seven posts say it is easy by public transport: about five minutes' walk from Bongcheon station exit 3, with a bus stop right outside. One notes that from Sillim you climb a hill, so Bongcheon is better.

Where it is

Map showing where Junghwa Yori Palgong is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Seven posts say it is easy by public transport: about five minutes' walk from Bongcheon station exit 3, with a bus stop right outside. One notes that from Sillim you climb a hill, so Bongcheon is better.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 23 posts

The registered address says basement level 1, but no post describes stairs or which floor it is on. We don't know.

No post says whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. That means nobody wrote about it, not that it is a problem.

Only one post says the toilet is inside the restaurant; nobody says whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 29 posts we gathered, 6 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-122 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices are consistent across 2026 (jjajangmyeon 10,000, seafood jjamppong 13,000 won), but two posts recall jjajangmyeon at 6,000 and 7,000 won and we don't know when it rose. Three posts call it pricey, four call it fair or cheap, one is undecided. Two people ordering the usual three dishes spend about 56,000 won.
  • Opening hours are mostly copied from listings. All agree on 11:20 opening and a 15:00–17:00 break; closing is 21:20 in twelve posts and 21:30 in three. Eight say Wednesdays close in the afternoon, and all say Sundays are closed. Many repeat that it closes early when ingredients run out, so check before an evening visit.
  • No reservations: one post says there is no Naver or CatchTable booking, only walk-in queueing. Two phone numbers appear, 02-877-9815 and 0507-1307-9815.
  • Accounts of the room split two to two: two say it is bigger than it looks, two say it is cramped with tables packed close. One counts about ten to twelve two- and four-seat tables.
