WIP

윕 성수 Wip Seongsu WIP stands for 'work in process' — the building was a factory before, and the house says the name means it keeps working on itself.

Compiled from 17 blog posts read in fullSources →

Wip Seongsu is a wine bar and Western-style kitchen at the far north end of Seongsu, in a side street at Gwangnaru-ro 4ga-gil 5. The dish everyone orders is the grilled octopus (23,000 won, ordered in fourteen posts), alongside ragu, gnocchi and truffle cream pastas (21,000–22,000 won) and an Iberico pork steak (38,000 won), eaten with wine — house wine was 11,000 won a glass, 50,000 a bottle. Nearly every post says it runs lunch from 11:30 and dinner, closed Wednesdays. We read 23 posts dated March 2025 to June 2026; 17 of them, from March 2025 to January 2026, are actual visits. The other six only shared the name 'WIP' or linked here from posts about other places, so we left them out.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. People book. Thirteen of the seventeen visit posts reserved through Naver, CatchTable or by phone — one a full month ahead. Yet no post describes waiting; three say there was no line at all: a Saturday 6 pm table thought they could have walked in, a weekday-evening visitor found bookings wide open, and a pre-noon brunch pair were the first customers.
  2. There are house rules. Five posts mention one dish per person (waived if you order a bottle; one post copied that dishes under 13,000 won count as half), and two mention a two-hour limit when people are waiting. Two posts stress that alcohol is not required despite the wine-bar label: weekends ask for one drink each, but a soft drink or non-alcoholic wine counts.
  3. Portions run small: five posts said so — one was surprised, another said three dishes were right for two, a third found the octopus smaller than expected. One post disagreed, delighted that the octopus came with four legs. Several pairs ordered three dishes.
  4. Seven posts said it is not expensive, mostly pointing at the wine: 11,000 won a glass and 50,000 a house bottle struck one writer as honest, and others called it fair for Seongsu and the setting. One post was undecided, stopping at one glass because of the 11,000-won price. One table used a Naver coupon for 10,000 won off a bottle plus a review-event ice cream; another paid with Seongdong-gu hometown-donation vouchers.

  1. Five posts call it roomy for a Seongsu wine bar — an eight-seat group table, a long communal table, space enough for parties; one group of six went together. Two posts said the tables are far enough apart that you don't hear the neighbours; one added the music is a bit loud.
  2. It dresses up for Christmas: three December 2025 posts describe a tree and decorations inside and out and chose it for year-end gatherings. Posts from other months talk about plants, fresh flowers on the tables and window seats.

Posts saying you can park2 of 17 posts

Parking is one car out front: two posts say so, and a third says there's no lot but room for about two cars at the kerb, advising you to walk because the lanes are busy. Several posts point to the Seongsu 2ga 3-dong public car park nearby.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 17 posts read)

No post says whether there's a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. One post mentions it's on the ground floor of a red-brick building — that's all. This means we don't know, not that it's step-free.

No visitor described where the toilets are or whether they're separate. One post's copied info line says inside and gender-separated, but we don't count that. One visitor did say the restroom was nicely done.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • The addresses disagree. The registered address is Seongsuil-ro 12ga-gil 12-13, Unit 103, but all seventeen visit posts give Gwangnaru-ro 4ga-gil 5. No post mentions a move, and we have no visits after January 2026, so we can't tell whether it has moved since. Check the address before you go.
  • Opening hours shift over time. Posts from March to November 2025 agree on closed Wednesdays, 11:30–22:00, a 15:20–17:00 break and last orders at 21:00. Three December 2025 posts give a 15:00–17:00 weekday break, and one says Friday to Sunday run until 23:00. One post says closed Mondays and another lists no day off; both stand alone. Most of these lines were copied from the listing.
  • Nearly every title calls it a date spot, but only three posts say they went as a couple; six went with friends, including a wedding-invite dinner and a group of six. None mention bringing children.
  • Five posts give the phone number as 0507-1389-1085; one gives 02-6951-1005. Most say reservations go through Naver or CatchTable.
  • No post discloses sponsorship. Six say they paid their own way; the rest don't say.
