Korean

Wipungdang Seongsu-jeom

위풍당 성수점 Wipungdang is cut down from the house's former name Wipung-dangdang Jokbal; wipung-dangdang is a Korean idiom for an imposing, majestic bearing.

A trotter-and-boiled-pork house on Seongsuil-ro 8-gil 53, a short walk from exit 2 of Seongsu station. Order trotters or pork and apple buckwheat noodles, a kimchi pancake and soft-tofu stew come with it; 13 of the 15 posts from people who ate there describe getting all three. From December 2025 the small trotter-and-pork set is 54,000 won and a medium half-spicy trotter platter 46,000; at lunch there are rice bowls around 12,000. The house changed its name from Wipung-dangdang Jokbal to Wipungdang in August 2025 and later redid its frontage. We read 23 posts from October 2024 to September 2026; 3 were about other shops in the building or another branch and were set aside.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. It is roomy, and people bring groups. Seven posts say the room is large, and three went for an office dinner or a gathering. One party of about ten had tables pushed together along the wall for them; the same post found the packed Friday-night room hectic.
  2. There is a free drinks corner by the door; four posts mention it, listing iced americano, instant coffee and cocoa. A regular lunch-goer writes of filling a cup with iced cocoa to take away.
  3. Four posts say the meat has no gamey smell; one found the plain trotters clean but noticed a slight smell in the spicy half. Six posts mention the heat, mostly describing it as spicy without being harsh.
  4. Six posts say the portions are large. Two men who shared a large half-spicy platter (52,000 won) were told it serves three or four, and reckoned it would cover three.

  1. No post describes waiting. One came over after seeing the queue at Seongsu Jokbal nearby and walked straight in on a Friday evening; another went right at opening and was seated at once.

Parking

1 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Assume no parking: one post says the building's car park is not for diners and you must use paid lots nearby, and two more copy 'no parking' from the listing.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 14 posts read)

No post describes the floor from experience; '1st floor' appears only in the address and copied listings.

We do not know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One family went with children but said nothing about the entrance; nobody wrote about it either way.

One post says the toilet is outside the restaurant, round to the right and further in. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in one copied listing, which we do not count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 19 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Three posts call the staff friendly and one disagrees. That December 2025 visitor found a single server for the whole room, a broken call button, and a 20-minute wait to box up leftovers, and said they would never return.
  • The cold mustard trotters can be slow: one post waited over 30 minutes and was told the meat had to thaw. Only one post says so.
  • Prices have gone up. The small set went from 52,000 won in October 2024 to 54,000 by December 2025, the medium half-spicy platter from 44,000 to 46,000 by January 2026, the small trotters from 36,000 (October 2024) to 41,000 (September 2026), and rice balls from 4,000 to 5,000 during 2026. Four posts call it good value; one calls it terrible value.
  • Opening hours depend on when the post was written: 11:30 to midnight (break 15:30 to 17:00) in October 2024 and June 2025; 11:30 to 2 a.m. (break 16:00 to 17:00) in four posts from December 2025 to February 2026; until 1 a.m. in June 2026; and until midnight, closed Sundays, in September 2026. Only that last post mentions a Sunday closure, so check before going.
  • Three posts say it is close to Seongsu station, two minutes' walk from exit 2 by one account and five by another. Nobody mentions arriving by bus.
  • Five posts give the phone number 0507-1424-3323. Several say Naver booking is available, but none describe actually booking.
  • Some promotional copy has been pasted in. Two posts reuse the same line about the owner's training at a top cooking school, and claims about fresh domestic trotters and the owner's apple orchard come from the house, so we did not count them. One post discloses payment from OB Beer, and two franchise-pitch posts by the owner are not counted as visits.
