Ukon Kare
우콘카레 Ukon is the Japanese word for turmeric (鬱金), and the rice here comes out yellow.
Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →
A Japanese-style curry shop on a side street off Seongsu-iro 10-gil, about a ten-minute walk from Seongsu Station exit 3. Thick curry goes over turmeric-yellow rice, you choose toppings (pork cutlet, karaage, fried shrimp, sausage, king oyster mushroom, fried egg) and pick a heat level from 1 to 5. Posts from June 2026 list the egg curry at 8,000 won, cutlet or karaage at 10,000 won, and the everything-on-it plate at 13,000 won. It mostly feeds nearby office workers on weekday lunches, and with both bar seats and tables many visitors came alone. We read 30 posts from 25 July 2025 to 9 September 2026; 23 of them describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- You can ask for more rice and curry. Eight posts mention refills and two of them actually took one. One says you can choose a different heat level for the refill; another says staff ask your level before bringing it. How many is unclear: one post says a single refill, another says unlimited.
- The shop's guide says level 3 equals Shin Ramyun. Four posts found it hot: one thought level 3 was hotter than Shin Ramyun, another was surprised by it. One post had the opposite experience, saying level 4 was barely hotter than level 3. Several suggest level 1 if you avoid heat.
- It isn't bar-only: ten posts describe both counter seats and tables, and one counted a two-seat table, three four-seat tables, one six-seat table plus the counter. Five posts call the room small.
- Ordering is by kiosk, per four posts, though they differ on where: one says a kiosk at the front of the shop, one says a kiosk at every table, one says they ordered and paid from their seat.

- Seven posts call the fried toppings crisp, and several mention garlic flakes scattered on the curry. One post repeated that the fried items might be ready-made, but that was hearsay and we did not count it.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 20 posts read) |
|---|
No one said whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller fits. One post mentions a wooden-deck entrance on the ground floor of a brick building. That means unknown, not absent.
No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 25 posts we gathered, 5 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Prices went up. Posts through January 2026 list cutlet, karaage, shrimp and sausage curries at 9,000 won and the egg curry at 7,000 won; posts from June 2026 list cutlet and karaage at 10,000 won and the egg curry at 8,000 won. One post wrote 11,000 won for karaage. Eight posts say it is cheap for Seongsu.
- Opening hours changed. Posts through January 2026 say it opened at 11:00 on weekdays (one says 11:30); six posts from May 2026 say 10:30 to 21:00 on weekdays, with last order at 20:30 in three. Most say it is closed on weekends, but one post says Monday to Saturday with Sundays off. These are mostly copied from info boxes in the posts.
- Lunch is busy. Three posts mention a queue, but only one gives a time: about five minutes. Others found a free seat before noon, or an empty room at 2:30 and 4:30 pm.
- The phone number 070-4124-8769 appears in two posts' info boxes. No one said whether reservations are taken.
- One post lists dishes like butter chicken curry, says it is three minutes from the station and that heat can't be adjusted, which contradicts every other post, so we did not use it.
