Japanese

Tendong Sikdang

텐동식당 Tendong is the Korean name for tendon, the Japanese bowl of rice topped with tempura, and sikdang means an eatery, so the name is simply 'Tempura Bowl Diner'.

Compiled from 11 blog posts read in fullSources →

A small tempura-bowl shop in a side street off exit 4 of Seongsu Station. The basic bowl, six vegetable tempura and two shrimp, is 10,000 won; the top 'special' is 18,000. You order on the tablet at your seat and the open kitchen in front fries it to order. Seating is mostly a bar counter and two-tops, and posts keep saying it suits eating alone. We read 11 posts from October 2024 to October 2026, all from people who ate there.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six of the 11 posts mention a line. The waits people actually timed were short: 5, 10 and 10 minutes, and two posts say a queue formed right behind them as they sat down. One explains there is no waiting system, you just line up outside in order. Two walked straight in; one arrived at the 11:00 opening as the first guest and watched it fill up toward lunch.
  2. Six posts call it cramped: tables close together, three people squeezed side by side at the bar, room for about 15 to 20. One post counted four two-tops, one four-top and 11 bar seats. Two describe it as a place to eat and go rather than linger.
  3. Five posts describe ordering and paying on a tablet at the seat. Two say food arrived within about five minutes; one warns that since everything is fried to order it can take a little while.
  4. Six posts found the tempura crisp, singling out the enoki ('like a snack') and the laver. Two were lukewarm: 'not really crispy, just tempura', 'not that fresh-from-the-fryer crunch'. Two found it greasy, one did not.
2 more
  1. Six posts call it good value and none call it expensive; one compares it with Seongsu meals that usually start around 15,000 won. Six also say the portions are large, and two note extra rice comes free, again topped with furikake and sauce.
  2. Five posts give the walk from Seongsu Station exit 4: three minutes in three posts, five in one. Two say to turn into the alley with the Mega Coffee.

Where it is

Map showing where Tendong Sikdang is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Five posts give the walk from Seongsu Station exit 4: three minutes in three posts, five in one. Two say to turn into the alley with the Mega Coffee.

Getting inside

We do not know the floor or whether there are steps. The address says ground floor, but no post describes it from experience.

Nobody mentioned an entrance step or wheelchair or stroller access. Six posts describe the room as cramped, so check ahead.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Accounts of a four-top differ: two posts say there is exactly one, one says there are only two-tops and groups of three or four may struggle. One party of three was seated at the bar.
  • All 11 posts list the same hours, daily 11:00 to 21:00 with a 15:00 to 17:00 break, but every one is copied from a listing. One post adds last order at 20:30 and one says open every day of the year.
  • Prices reported: basic bowl 10,000 won, chicken karaage curry 11,000, karaage bowl 12,000, squid bowl 13,000, shrimp bowl 16,000, special 18,000, onion curry 4,000. Only one post gives the shrimp bowl price, and nobody gives the eel bowl or tofu salad price. No post since October 2024 reports a change.
  • All 11 posts give the phone number 02-6339-0309, but none says whether reservations are taken; one says you simply line up outside.
