Seongsu Gomsikdang

성수곰식당 Gom-sikdang reads as 'the gom eatery' — sikdang means eatery, and gom points to gomtang, the long-simmered beef soup the sign advertises ('herbal / gomtang specialist'); gom on its own is also the word for bear.

Compiled from 29 blog posts read in fullSources →

A gomtang (beef soup) house on the second floor of 385-32 Ttukseom-ro, under ten minutes' walk from Seongsu Station. By day it serves soups — basic beef gomtang at 10,000 won, bracken gomtang at 11,000, the signature Seongsu gomtang with brisket, knee cartilage and short rib at 18,000–19,000 — each with rice and a side of noodles; in the evening it adds hot pots like gopdoritang and aldoritang (42,000 won with tray noodles) to go with drinks. You order from a tablet at the table or a kiosk by the door. Two posts say it moved here from the Yeonmujang-gil side. We read 30 posts from April 27 to October 2, 2026; 29 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Twenty-one posts said the portions are large. The recurring reason is that every soup comes with both a bowl of rice and a separate serving of noodles — one diner who had the knee-cartilage soup said they barely touched the rice.
  2. Eleven posts ordered through a tablet at the table or the kiosk at the entrance.
  3. Ten posts topped up kimchi and kkakdugi from a self-serve station. Those two are the only side dishes, and several posts single out the slightly sweet radish kimchi.
  4. Seventeen posts called the room spacious — rows of four-person tables plus a long bench along the wall — and several noticed people eating alone.
2 more
  1. Nine posts said it is not expensive — one about eating for a single 10,000-won note, another that the Seongsu gomtang looks pricey until you see the bowl.
  2. Eight posts walked from Seongsu Station, exit 3 or 4, in under ten minutes.

Sixteen posts note that it is on the second floor; one says you have to climb the stairs and there is no elevator.

No post mentions arriving with a wheelchair or stroller. Posts describe climbing stairs to the second floor and one says there is no elevator; nobody mentioned whether there is a step at the door.

The restrooms are outside the restaurant door. Three posts say they are separate for men and women; one adds that in the men's room your face is visible from outside while standing.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 30 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Heat is disputed: six posts found it spicy, three did not. Two who had the spicy braised chicken said it was milder than the name; the red yeolgomtang made one diner sweat while another said it was not very hot.
  • Waiting barely comes up: one post queued to get in, another says there is sometimes a line and sometimes not. No post says how many minutes.
  • Six posts say who they came with: three as a couple, one with a mother, one with a friend, one alone. None came with children.
  • Opening hours appear in 22 posts, all copied from the listing. Most give weekdays 10:30–21:30 (break 14:30–17:00, last order 20:30), Saturday 10:30–20:00, closed Sunday; five differ — a 10:00 Saturday start, 11:00–22:00, a 15:00–17:00 break (two posts), and Monday–Saturday until 21:30.
  • Prices vary slightly between posts: Seongsu gomtang at 18,000 won (three posts) or 19,000 (two), short-rib soup at 19,000 in July and 20,000 in September, spicy beef soup at 11,000 in June and 12,000 in July. We cannot tell whether these are increases or different menu photos.
  • Fourteen posts copy the phone number 0507-1386-5580, but none says whether the restaurant takes reservations.
  • A June 2026 post says it used to be on the Yeonmujang-gil side and moved a while ago; a September post mentions returning after the recent move. All 30 posts we read are at the current address, so we know nothing about the old one.
  • Aldoritang first appears in September 2026 posts, described as a new dish; earlier posts' evening hot pots are gopdoritang and spicy braised chicken.
  • Seven posts carry the same string of search keywords and three end with an identical hashtag set; only one discloses sponsorship. We counted them because each describes a concrete meal, but promotional writing is clearly part of the mix.
