Ssojujip Seongsu

쏘주집 성수 Ssoju-jip is a playful spelling of soju-jip, a 'soju house' — a plain neighbourhood drinking spot; this is the Seongsu branch, with a sister shop in Gunja.

A retro soju bar in an alley off Ttukseom-ro in Seongsu, near Ttukdo Market. The walls are covered with old K-pop idol photos and stills from Infinite Challenge, 2000s pop plays, and people come for soju with stews and bar snacks. The soft-tofu stew and marinated-egg set was ₩29,000 and jjagyechi noodles ₩7,000. We read 16 posts from 17 May to 5 October 2026. Five were about the same-named Gunja branch and were set aside; ten describe visits here and one only names the place.

Rows without a count: 2 of 4 posts.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Every table gets a packet of Chakani, an old-school snack, as the house nibble — five posts mention it, and two say the water is barley tea.
  2. Four posts talk about the owners. One was greeted with a smile and shown to a table; two — the same writer in June and again in July — were poured a taste of other spirits and given something on the house.
  3. Three posts call the food spicy: the tofu stew hot and peppery, the marinated eggs sharp from chilli.
  4. Two posts, from May and June, mention street tables outside the door and suggest them for mild weather.

  1. Two posts give the walk from Seongsu Station exit 3 as 10 and 10–15 minutes, along the main road and then into an alley.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

Getting inside

Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 9 posts read)
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 9 posts read)

No post says which floor the bar is on or whether there are steps; the '1st floor' in the address is the registered listing.

We don't know whether there is a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — not that there isn't, just that nobody wrote about it.

The toilet is not inside. One post describes it: next door, half a floor up, behind a keypad code, shared by men and women (two stalls and two urinals). The writer warns to lock the outer door and that it smells a little. Another post's 'toilet outside' line was copied from a listing.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 10 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • We know little about waiting. One post walked in without a wait around 9:30 on a weekday; another found it nearly full within 20 minutes of opening on a weekday. Nobody reports actually queuing.
  • Four posts list opening hours, all copied from listings. They agree it opens at 6 pm and closes Sundays; closing time varies — two say 2 am Mon–Thu and 3 am Fri–Sat, one says 2 am Mon–Sat, one says 3 am.
  • Prices appear only dish by dish; no post says what the whole bill came to, so we don't know what a night here costs.
  • No post gives this branch's phone number; one writer only notes, from looking it up, that Naver Map takes bookings. The 070 number in Gunja posts belongs to the Gunja branch.
  • A batch of posts about the same-named Gunja branch, all with the same hashtags, appeared from late September. Their set menu, hours and phone number are not this branch's and were not counted.
