PHO U

포유 성수 Poyu Seongsu The sign reads PHO U — pho is the Vietnamese rice-noodle soup the menu is built around; none of the posts explain the U.

Compiled from 21 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Vietnamese and Southeast Asian restaurant in an alley off Yeonmujang-gil, a three-to-five-minute walk from exit 4 of Seongsu Station. People mostly order the raw-beef pho served in a three-tier pot (13,900 won), spring rolls (7,000), banh xeo (20,900) and pad thai (14,900 for the spicy one), and bread arrives before the food. Many pairs paid around 30,000–36,000 won for a pho and one dish. We read 30 posts dated 26 August to 1 October 2026; four were about other places and one was a listicle, so our counts come from 25 posts by people who went. Three of those 25 were sponsored or invited.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. You order from your own phone at the table: 13 posts describe tapping it on an NFC tag to bring up the menu and order directly. One says everyone at the table sees the same shared order on their own phone; another found the menu by the door hard to read because it isn't in Korean.
  2. The spring rolls are consistently described as crisp: ten posts said so of the cha gio or the fried fermented pork, and none disagreed. Several also mention the dipping sauce coming in a perfume-style spray bottle.
  3. The kitchen is open to the room — seven posts say you can watch the cooking. Six called the place clean; one disagreed, saying it had dirty spots here and there despite the upscale look.

Posts saying you cannot2 of 21 posts

Assume there's no parking at the restaurant: two posts say the alley rules it out, and one of them parked at the Seongsu 2-ga 3-dong public lot and walked. Lists of nearby paid lots were copied from elsewhere, so we didn't count them.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 21 posts
Toilet inside3 of 21 posts

The address says ground floor, but the posts put it upstairs: six say it is on the second floor or that you climb stairs to get in, and two call it a 'mezzanine' level. Three mention window seats with floor-to-ceiling glass; one liked that being upstairs made the big windows feel less exposed.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in — nobody wrote about it. Three posts do mention climbing stairs to the entrance, and none mentions a lift.

The restroom is inside the restaurant, per three posts; one places it by the counter. Nobody said whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post describes waiting in line. Two who booked and arrived around 11:30 on a weekend said there was no wait. Several say the room filled up soon after they sat down at weekday lunch or around 4 p.m.; the claim that there's almost always a lunchtime queue comes secondhand from one sponsored post, so we didn't count it.
  • Opinions on portions split four to two: four posts left full, while two found the servings small, one suggesting you order more dishes than there are people.
  • Dishes labelled spicy vary: two posts found the spicy pad thai mild, while one found the spicy raw-beef pho clearly hot. Several mention adjusting the heat with the chopped chilli served alongside.
  • Seventeen posts give the opening hours as 11:00–23:00 daily, and twelve give last orders at 21:30, though most copied this from an info box. Three say there's no afternoon break. One pet-friendly listicle gives last orders as 22:00, but its author didn't visit, so we left it out.
  • Prices didn't vary across the September posts. Two said they were fair for Seongsu and nobody called it expensive. One post found some popular dishes already sold out at weekday lunch.
  • Several posts give the same phone number, 0507-1470-5516. Five went with a Naver booking, and Catchtable bookings are mentioned too. The 10% discount and free coconut for Naver bookings come from the shop's own promotion, repeated in four posts; we haven't confirmed it.
  • Three of the 25 posts were sponsored or invited. Lines like 'broth simmered over 24 hours from Korean beef bones' and 'three-tier pots made for the restaurant' recur word for word across posts — they're the shop's own pitch, so we didn't rely on them.
