Onseul is a Korean pub-kitchen on the third floor of a building on Yeonmujang 7ga-gil, a 3-7 minute walk from exits 3 and 4 of Seongsu Station. On weekdays from 11:30 to 14:00 it serves lunch sets such as grilled mackerel, duck-kimchi-cheese fried rice and spicy chicken noodle soup for 11,000 won; in the evening it is a drinking spot with dishes to share. Posts from October 2025 on say every evening main is 12,000 won for a single portion. Before that, up to May 2025, prices varied by dish - 24,000 won for the chicken-and-brisket stew, 33,000 won for smoked duck. We read 30 posts from October 2024 to July 2026; 28 describe a visit. One, a TV-listing roundup, was not about this place and was dropped; one weekly diary only named the shop and was not counted.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. There is a floor-seating area at the back where you sit on the floor; twelve posts mention it and six say you take your shoes off. Some note it sits by the windows and catches the sun. Three writers saw it and chose a regular table anyway, finding the shoes a hassle or the floor uncomfortable.
  2. The spicy dishes are genuinely hot. Ten posts say so, and three compare the chicken noodle soup or the chicken stew to Buldak fire noodles (one quoting the menu). One writer warned it is for people who can handle heat, not just people who like it. Only one post called the heat clean and mild.
  3. Six posts say you order on a tablet at the table; one notes staff bring one if your seat lacks it. A January 2026 post said the menu showed no prices.
  4. Three posts say the lunch side dishes - chamnamul salad, crab stick and white kimchi - and the lettuce are refilled on request; one writer had the white kimchi topped up twice. The evening starter works differently, as noted below.
5 more
  1. Four posts got a frozen yogurt or dessert for joining the review event, topped with blueberries, mango or cereal.
  2. Ten posts call it cheap and one calls it pricey. Most of the 'cheap' posts come after October 2025, when every main became 12,000 won, and measure it against Seongsu prices. The one dissent, in June 2026, found the clam dish a bit expensive and small for Seoul.
  3. Three posts say food is slow: about 30 minutes at an empty lunch (February 2025), a tip to allow extra time (February 2025), and a long wait with only one table in on a weekday evening (June 2026).
  4. Six posts call it quiet for Seongsu, often because being on the third floor keeps it out of sight. One April 2025 post found the tables close enough to overhear neighbours, while six others describe the room as roomy.
  5. Nine posts put it 3-7 minutes on foot from exits 3 and 4 of Seongsu Station; two describe turning off toward Seongsu Gamjatang and finding it next to Midoin.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 11 (of 26 posts read)
Lift to the flooryes 0 · no 3 (of 26 posts read)
Toilet inside2 of 26 posts

You reach the third floor by stairs. Eleven posts describe the climb and three say there is no elevator. One called the stairs quite steep (February 2025); another told anyone who struggles with stairs to skip the place (June 2026). The stairs are on the right of the building and turn at the second floor.

No post mentions arriving by wheelchair or with a stroller - not that it is impossible, just that no one wrote about it. Three posts do say the only way up is stairs with no elevator. No one mentions a threshold at the door.

Two posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant and two say it is spacious. One remark about shouting 'occupied' when someone knocks suggests a single room, but the only word on gender is a 'unisex' line in one post's info box, which we treat as copied and did not count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Prices split by period. Posts from April-May 2025 list the chicken-and-brisket stew at 24,000 won, a full plate of beef sashimi at 32,000, smoked duck at 33,000, fried chicken neck at 19,000 and the clam dish at 21,000; one couple paid 70,500 won. From October 2025 every evening main is 12,000 won for a single portion, so the two periods are not directly comparable. The switch happened sometime between June and September 2025; no post from those months gives prices. Lunch was 11,000 won, and one July 2026 post lists the mackerel set at 12,000.
  • The evening starter of wasabi-mayo crab stick with crackers is free only for the first plate. One writer got extra free in winter 2024 but found it on the menu by spring 2025; May and June 2025 posts say seconds cost extra, and a January 2026 post says 2,000 won.
  • Only two posts mention waiting, and they differ: one walked straight in at lunch (March 2025); another put their name down by phone on a Saturday evening and was called when a table opened (April 2025). Others found it quiet or say it filled up later. No post gives a wait time.
  • Fifteen posts give opening hours, and they disagree. Most agree on closed Sundays and a 14:00-17:30 break. Saturday opening was 16:30, 16:40 or 17:00 in posts from February-April 2025 and 17:30 from October 2025; two 2026 posts say Saturdays open at 11:30, unlike a July 2026 post (17:30-23:00). The 'Mon-Thu 11:30-15:00' in four spring 2025 posts looks copied from a listing. Check before you go.
  • Two posts booked ahead, for groups of four and eight. Spring 2025 posts book through CatchTable with a 20,000-won deposit refunded at payment; a March 2026 post says Naver booking. Four posts give the same phone number, 0507-1439-3226. A March 2026 post mentions a private room for 8-10.
  • Bringing your own bottle is not free: a May 2025 post paid a 15,000-won corkage for gin. No later post mentions corkage, so the current fee is unknown. One post's closing tag says cakes may be brought in; we did not count it.
  • Three posts published on 17 October 2025 follow the same outline - third-floor stairs, rooftop, everything 12,000 won, review-event ice cream. None discloses sponsorship, but they may be commissioned together, so we flag them. No post describes actually sitting on the rooftop; one says rain kept them inside.
