Omonja Seongsu-jeom

오몬자 성수점 Monja is short for monjayaki, the runny Tokyo griddle dish the house serves; the 'O' reads as an exclamation, as in the house set written 'Oh! Monja Set'.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Tokyo-style monjayaki griddle restaurant on the third floor of the Yeopgi Tteokbokki building at Yeonmujang-gil 31-1, Seongsu. Every table has a griddle; staff chop the cabbage, pour the batter and shape the monjayaki at your seat, then you wait two or three minutes for it to crisp and scrape it up with a small spatula. The most-ordered dish is the pollock-roe mochi monjayaki (21,800 won), and twelve visit posts took the set for two: one monjayaki, yakisoba or okonomiyaki, and two drinks (43,000 won). We read 30 posts from 2026-09-23 to 2026-10-06; 24 describe eating here, and 6 were set aside as posts about the Gangnam or Yeonnam branches or unrelated places that only linked here.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Twenty-one of the 24 visit posts say staff cooked the monjayaki at the table. Many describe the rapid chopping on the griddle as a show, and several mention the cook drawing a cat or smiley face with parsley or seaweed at the end. One post warns that two portions of the same flavour cooked at once never cook through at the edges, and advises asking for them one at a time.
  2. Ten posts call the room large. One counted more than twenty two-seat tables, each with its own griddle; another found the tables well spaced and the ceiling high enough that it never felt loud. One post, though, found it noisy and chaotic from smoke and griddle clatter, so the noise verdict splits one to one.
  3. One post waited: about 14 groups ahead at 8 pm on a Friday, cleared in roughly 30 minutes. Six posts were seated right away, at times like 4:30 pm, early evening, weekday daytime and weekend lunch. Other posts say peak evenings have queues, but as hearsay or guesses, so we did not count them.
  4. Four posts walked from Seongsu Station, about five minutes from Exit 4.

Thirteen posts describe going up to the third floor, and three of them say there is no elevator, so it is stairs all the way. Posts note the building entrance is on the side and shared with Yeopgi Tteokbokki, which confused one visitor.

Only one post addresses wheelchairs or strollers: too many stairs and no elevator, so neither can get up. Nobody mentions a threshold or ramp.

Only one post mentions the toilet, saying it is inside the restaurant. Nobody says whether it is separated by gender or how big it is.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Opinions on price split. One post questioned whether the 21,800-won roe-mochi monjayaki was worth it; another said three people ate their fill for around 10,000-some won each. The two-person set was written as 43,000 won twice, 42,000 won once, and 52,000 won for the Asahi version.
  • One post found it too salty as the meal went on; others used 'salty' approvingly, as a good match for beer.
  • Fourteen posts list opening hours, all as copied info blocks, and they disagree on late nights. Most agree on 11:30 to 23:00 with last order at 22:00, but four say it stays open until midnight Thursday to Saturday, three say Friday and Saturday only, and one says midnight every day. No post mentions a closing day.
  • Seven posts list the phone number 02-468-0555. Several also say Naver reservations are available, but only as copied info; no post says it booked ahead.
  • Three visit posts follow the same promotional template of headings, hashtags and a closing recommendation, but none disclose sponsorship, so we counted them as written. Six posts state they paid their own way.
