MENKUDO
멘쿠도 Menkudo Men is the Japanese word for noodles; none of the posts explain the rest of the name.
Data as of · Published ·
Menkudo's Seongsu branch is a Japanese-style ramen shop on the ground floor of 53 Seongsuil-ro 8-gil, in the alleys behind Seongsu Station. It serves a chicken-broth shiromen (11,000 won), a wok-charred spicy akamen (12,000 won), horumen with beef intestines (15,000 won) and brothless mazesoba (12,000 won), plus chashu and pork rice bowls and gyoza. You order from a tablet at your seat, rice is free, and there are both solo counter seats and tables. It is a recently opened shop. We read 30 posts dated 25 August to 1 October 2026: 3 were about the Gangnam (Sinnonhyeon) branch and were set aside, 1 only compiled information without a visit, and 26 describe actual visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- The kitchen is fully open: 19 of the 26 visit posts mention it. The solo counter faces the kitchen, so you watch the wok work while you eat; one diner saw a staff member folding gyoza at the end of the counter, and another described the kitchen as walled in clear glass.
- You order at your seat: 16 posts used a tablet or kiosk, mostly one fixed to each table. One noted that you pay before the order goes through, and several said the bill can be split on the kiosk. Pickled radish, pepper, wet wipes and paper cups sit on the table or in a side drawer.
- For a ramen shop it is roomy: 18 posts called it spacious, with a solo counter in front of the kitchen and two- to four-person tables further in; one estimated about 40 seats. One solo diner, though, found strangers seated close on both sides at the counter and left before finishing.
- Nearly every title says it is good for eating alone, but only 3 posts were actually solo visits; 3 went with friends, 3 with a partner and 3 with family. A parent with a baby reported a high chair and staff warming the baby food they brought; 6 posts mention high chairs.
- Diners found it inexpensive: of 22 posts that discussed price, 17 called it cheap or fair and none called it expensive. Seven drank Terra draught at the 2,900-won opening price, and two received a free canned drink for posting a receipt review.
- Waits vary. Three posts walked straight in, at 6:30 pm on a weekday and 2 pm on a Sunday. Two saw a line form: one had no one ahead at weekend lunch but a queue on the way out, the other saw office workers lining up as they left. One post says you join the queue on a tablet at the door and are notified through CatchTable.
- Gyoza is a common order: 13 posts describe a juicy filling and a crisp, lattice-skirted base. The lines about dumplings being hand-folded daily and pan-fried rather than deep-fried appear almost word for word across posts, so we treat them as the shop's own copy and did not count them.
- Heat is chosen in three steps, labelled 'Shin Ramyun', 'fiery' and 'seriously hot'. Three posts found it spicy: a companion barely touched a level-one horumen, a level-two bowl was fiery, and the mazesoba was hotter than expected. Another post found level one easy going.

Parking
1 posts say you can park; 1 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Parking reports conflict. Several copied listing blocks say no parking, and one diner wrote that parking is impossible and pointed to the Seongwon Middle School public lot at 1,800 won an hour. Another post, however, says there is space for one car in front of the shop. The 1 hour 15 minutes of validated parking at a nearby lot comes from the shop's own notice. One post came by car but did not say where it parked.

Getting there

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for the address instead.
Getting inside
| In a basement | yes 0 · no 1 (of 25 posts read) |

Only one visitor mentioned the floor, saying the shop is at street level with an easy-to-spot sign; beyond the address, that is all we have.
No one wrote about a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or pushchair — that means we do not know, not that there is no issue. One post mentions a ledge by the window you can sit on while waiting; that is not an entrance step.
We do not know whether the toilet is inside the shop. One post says only that there is a clean toilet in the building, and two mention signs pointing the way. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in copied listing blocks.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 26 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- One post discloses sponsorship and three attach a self-paid receipt. The rest say nothing, yet the same phrases recur in the same order — horumen as 'motsunabe in a ramen bowl', adjustable saltiness, free rice, split payment, high chairs and aprons. Many posts appear to follow a brief from the shop, so we treated those phrases as copied text and did not rely on them.
- Opening hours disagree. Thirteen posts give 11:00 as the opening time, six give 11:30, and two give 11:00 to 20:00 with last orders at 19:30. The versions do not split by date, so we cannot tell a change from a copying error. Most say it closes at 21:30 with last orders at 21:00 and no afternoon break. Nearly all of these are copied from listing blocks.
- Prices are as of August–September 2026. A meal is a ramen at 11,000–15,000 won plus toppings (the four-topping set is 3,500 won); pairs ordering ramen, a rice bowl, gyoza and beer reported totals of 27,000, 40,400 and 40,500 won. The 2,900-won Terra draught is an opening promotion and may end at any time.
- Two phone numbers circulate: 6 posts give 0507-1323-2929 and 5 give 010-6657-0579. Reservations appear only as 'bookable' in copied listing blocks; no one wrote about actually booking.
