MAISON SEONGSUDON

메종성수돈 Mejong Seongsudon Maison is French for house; Seongsudon joins Seongsu, the neighbourhood, with don, the Sino-Korean word for pig.

Maison Seongsudon is a charcoal pork grill on the second floor of a building in a side street off Yeonmujang-gil, south of Seongsu Station. Staff grill and slice the meat at your seat, and each diner gets a small palette of salt, ssamjang, wasabi and blackcurrant jam. A June 2026 post lists steak-cut pork neck at 19,000 won, gabrisal at 20,000, jowl at 21,000 and beef doenjang rice stew at 15,000; two posts paid 55,000 won for two portions of gabrisal and the stew. Four posts say lunch is soup curry only, no meat. We read 30 posts from October 2025 to September 2026. We set aside 16 about the Songpa branch of the same name and 3 about other places, which left 9 written by people who ate here.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Staff do the grilling — six of the nine posts say so. Writers describe the meat being lifted onto a board, cut with a knife and put back on the fire, and being told to eat it first with salt, then with wasabi. One post says that once the meat was mostly done the server told them to keep turning it and left, so how long someone stays at your grill may vary.
  2. Dinner seats can come with a time limit. Two posts give 90 minutes: one walked in around 6:30 pm and was told the table was booked for 8, the other was told the same at the counter and assumed it was because of bookings. The two posts list the same order and the same 55,000-won bill, so they are probably two people from the same table.
  3. There is bar seating as well as tables. Three posts describe where they sat, and all three were at the bar; one liked watching the meat grilled right in front of them. Another says there are tables for two, four and six, but not many of them.
  4. Four posts call the meat juicy. One post found the portions small and suggests three portions for two people.

  1. Waits vary. Two posts walked straight in (a weekday dinner without booking, a Sunday evening); one had to wait outside briefly because only reserved seats were left. Nobody gave a number of minutes. One post booked ahead and found a name card on the table.

Getting inside

Second floor3 of 9 posts

It is upstairs, on the second floor of a building in a side street — three posts say so. One warns you might walk past it at first; another notes a menu is posted outside so you can check before going up.

It is on the second floor, but no post says whether you climb stairs, whether there is a lift, or whether there is a step at the door. That means we don't know, not that there is none.

No post about this branch mentions the toilet — where it is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 11 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours differ between posts. Five agree on last orders at 9 pm and Mondays closed. Three give an 11 am opening, with a break from 3 to 5 pm in two and from 2:30 in one; two give 5 pm, adding that lunch from 11:30 to 2 is soup curry only. All of this is copied from listings, so check before you go.
  • Only one post (June 2026) lists prices dish by dish. Two posts give a meal total — 55,000 won for two, with two portions of gabrisal and the stew. No post said whether it was expensive or cheap.
  • Only one post gives a phone number (0507-1384-8045). Several copy a note that bookings go through CatchTable; one post actually booked.
  • Sixteen posts were about the Songpa branch of the same name and were set aside. Free welcome sangria, the minari side dish and the Songpa prices belong to that branch and are not counted here.
