Mandu Tangban is a dumpling-soup restaurant one floor below street level, in a side street off Yeonmujang-gil a few minutes from Seongsu Station exit 4. The house soup — three fist-sized dumplings with brisket slices, pork or kimchi filling — costs 17,000 won; the chicken version, made in limited quantity each day, is 15,000 won. Rice, individually plated side dishes and a pear-ginger sorbet come with the meal at no extra charge. We read 24 posts dated 6 February to 20 September 2026; 23 describe an actual visit. Six of those disclosed sponsorship and one said the writer paid.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- The kimchi dumplings are spicy. Twelve visit posts said so and none said otherwise. One warned that they are quite hot and told chili-shy readers to order the pork version; another said the owner warned them about the heat when they ordered. The pork version comes in a clear brisket broth with no heat.
- Posts describe a quiet room in a busy neighbourhood: eleven said it was quiet and none said it was loud. One heard gayageum music playing; many mentioned white porcelain dishes and wooden tables — though that phrase also appears in the shop's own introduction, which several posts copied.
- Eleven posts said the owner or staff were kind. Three were walked through the order of eating — the meat first, then the dumplings, then rice in the broth — and one asked for a less salty broth and had it adjusted. An April 2026 post noted the owner was running the place alone and still attentive throughout.
- The dumplings are large. Six posts said the portion was big; one writer, a self-described big eater, was full after two of them. Most posts counted three dumplings a bowl; one counted four in the kimchi version.
2 more
- The kitchen is open to the room: four posts said so, and one watched the owner preparing dumplings while waiting.
- Three posts noticed foreign diners, and three mentioned an English menu.

The restaurant is below ground. Fourteen posts described it from their visit as basement or half-basement level. Four mentioned going down a flight of stairs — about half a storey, one said — and several noted it does not feel dark for a basement.
We do not know whether there is a step at the entrance, whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in, or whether there is a lift — no post said. That is not the same as there being none; four posts did mention walking down stairs.
Only two posts said the toilet is inside the restaurant, one of them noting it is shared by men and women. No one said whether it is accessible.
No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 23 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Waiting is mixed: two posts walked straight in (one on a weekend), one waited briefly because it was busy, and no one gave a time. One weekday 7 p.m. visit found most dishes already sold out, and two posts found the chicken soup gone.
- Company varies: three posts went with friends, two alone, one with a mother, one with a work team. Many call it good for solo dining, but mostly from seeing other diners — only two actually ate alone.
- Opening hours come only from copied info blocks, and they disagree. February 2026 posts listed Tuesday to Sunday 11:00–21:00 with Mondays closed; seven posts from late March onward list Monday to Saturday 11:00–21:00 and Sunday 11:00–16:00. The afternoon break was 15:00–16:00 in posts from February to April and 15:00–17:00 in June and July. Sundays are variously closed (March, July), closed every other week (April) or open (March), and one September post gives 11:30–21:30. Check before going.
- Prices held steady from February to September 2026: 17,000 won for the dumpling soup, 15,000 won for the chicken version. Three posts found it steep for dumpling soup until they saw the size of the dumplings; one sponsored post called it good value. A listicle quoted 9,000–10,000 won, which matches no other post, so we set it aside.
- The phone number, 0507-1401-7894, was copied into several posts. Two writers booked ahead (a weekday lunch and a weekday dinner), yet a March 2026 post was told the shop only took walk-ins and planned to add online booking later. We do not know how reservations work now.
- We do not know whether takeaway is available; one February 2026 post was told it was not ready yet.
- Six posts disclosed sponsorship, all between February and April 2026, and seven more reproduce the shop's own introduction word for word — one of them while claiming to have paid. Claims about Korean beef and pork, domestic ingredients and the owner taking over a parents' 20-year-old noodle shop come from the shop or from hearsay; we report them as copied, not as findings.
