MAMALEE PUB

마마리 펍 Mamari Peop Mamalee is a coined brand name rather than a Korean word; the posts describe its food as 'mom's banchan' (side dishes), and 'pub' is the English word for the upstairs bar room.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

A two-storey spot at 16 Yeonmujang 18-gil in Seongsu: a banchan shop (Mamalee Market) downstairs and a pub upstairs serving side dishes and Korean drinking food. Nearly every post mentions chef Song Ha-seulram from Culinary Class Wars. At lunch people eat one-person sets with rice, soup and six banchan, such as grilled Spanish mackerel at 18,000 won or charcoal spicy pork at 15,000 won; in the evening it is lotus-root fried chicken (16,000 won) or braised aged kimchi (32,000 won for two) with highballs or traditional liquor. You can carry banchan bought downstairs up to your table. From 4 August to 19 September 2026 it sold a Hyodo Chicken collaboration set (50,000 won), and many posts date from that run. We read 30 posts from 16 January to 4 October 2026; 22 are about this place and 20 describe an actual visit.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. It is not bar-only: 9 posts describe a separate L-shaped bar, used for solo meals and drinks, and a table room with tables for two, four and six plus long group tables.
  2. You order by QR code at the table, as 7 posts noted. The menu is split into weekday, weekend, lunch and dinner sections, so some dishes appear only in the evening or at weekends.
  3. No post reports waiting. Three said they walked straight in: arriving around 11:30, a Saturday lunch where walk-ins looked fine, and an empty evening. One said they were 'lucky' to be seated at once and mentioned a waiting bench at the upstairs entrance. Six posts booked ahead on CatchTable.
  4. Four posts said there was no off smell, about the pork in the braised kimchi and the grilled mackerel. None said otherwise.

Getting inside

Second floor17 of 20 posts
Toilet inside2 of 20 posts
Separate restrooms1 of 20 posts

You eat upstairs: 17 visit posts went up to the second floor. The way up is an outside staircase on the left side of the building, not through the shop. One post says the right-hand door upstairs leads to the bar and till, the left-hand door to the tables.

No post mentions a step at the door, wheelchair or pram access, or a lift. That does not mean there is none — nobody wrote about it. Several posts do say the dining floor is reached by an outside staircase.

Two posts say the toilet is inside: one notes separate men's and women's rooms, the other that it is on the table side, not the bar side. The rest say nothing.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 22 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opinions differ on how sweet the lotus-root chicken is: two posts found it far too sweet, one said it was not overly sweet.
  • Six posts called the collaboration's garlic-chilli chicken spicy and two said it was not very hot. All are August 2026 posts, and the dish ended on 19 September.
  • Posts disagree about getting here by transit. Three found it fine (Konkuk Univ. station exit 6 is closer; 15 minutes' walk from Seongsu exit 3; or a bus to the Seongsu 119 Safety Center stop). Four found it a fair walk from any station, and one called a 10-minute walk 'a bit awkward'.
  • All opening hours are copied from listings. Five posts agree for the upstairs pub: Monday to Saturday 11:30-22:00, break 15:00-17:00, last order 21:00, closed Sunday. Others say open every day, irregular closures, or (one June post) until 21:00 with no break. 11:00-21:00 is the downstairs shop's hours.
  • Prices come from posts dated January to August 2026. The braised kimchi is given as 32,000 won for two in two posts and 18,000 won for one in another. Four posts called the prices reasonable; none called them high.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 02-465-7306 in four posts and 0507-1383-2163 in three. Most bookings were made on CatchTable; some posts also copy a Naver booking link.
  • Nine collaboration posts from 9 to 30 August 2026 share near-identical phrasing and menu order. Only two disclose sponsorship; the rest say nothing, so treat praise from that stretch with care. Six posts say they paid their own way.
