Matthew

매튜 Maetyu Matthew is simply the English given name written in Hangul; none of the posts explains why the restaurant took it.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

A small French tasting-menu restaurant on a side street of Seongsu-dong, next to the north ramp of Yeongdong Bridge. There is no à la carte: dinner is 120,000 won a head, lunch 85,000 won in posts from April 2026 on (70,000 won in January). Pork loin is the default main; lamb costs 15,000 won more, and a roast quail can be added. The plates change with the season. Nearly every post repeats that the chef was head chef at Mingles, but that is the restaurant's own billing, so we don't rely on it. We read 30 posts dated 14 January to 2 October 2026: 19 from people who ate here, 4 introductions, lists or event promotions, and 7 about something else that happens to share the name — a Muse singer, a drama character, a coffee shop in Jeonju.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. On price, posts agree it is good value: eight say so outright, and none call it expensive. The comparison is with other French tasting menus — many charge 200,000 won, this one 120,000. One writer added that the room doesn't feel lavish enough to match a special-occasion fine-dining expectation.
  2. This is a book-ahead place: nine posts say they reserved, through CatchTable or Naver. One gives the deposit as 30,000 won per person. Another arrived at a CatchTable slot to find several empty tables, but couldn't say whether walk-ins are accepted.
  3. Four of the posts that had the lamb mention, unprompted, that it had no gamey smell — one said they couldn't detect the usual lamb odour at all.
  4. Seven posts drank wine by the glass or as a pairing, or note that pairing is offered. One praises the range of non-alcoholic drinks; another brought a bottle of whisky and grumbled that corkage would cost more than the bottle, but nobody gives the corkage fee.
2 more
  1. Four posts say there are both counter seats and tables — about five tables by one count — and two mention partitions or glass screens between tables. One notes the kitchen is open to view from the door.
  2. People come here for birthdays and anniversaries: four posts went with a partner or spouse, and six were given an extra dessert — usually a brownie with a candle — after noting the occasion when booking. Others came with friends, and one person ate the dinner course alone.

Parking

5 posts say you can park. None say you cannot.

Posts saying you can park5 of 19 posts

You park not at the door but in a lot two or three minutes' walk away; give your plate number after the meal and two hours are free. Five posts describe parking this way. One other post only says parking nearby was hard, without saying whether they used the validation.

Getting inside

Toilet inside1 of 19 posts
Separate restroomsyes 0 · no 1 (of 19 posts read)

No post says which floor it is on or whether there are stairs; only the address says ground floor.

We don't know about a step at the entrance or wheelchair and stroller access — not because there is a problem, but because nobody wrote about it.

Only one post mentions the toilet: inside the restaurant, shared by men and women, and clean. Nobody else brings it up.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions split two to two: two posts left stuffed, two found it on the small side — one thought it might not be enough for a grown man.
  • Three posts call the room small and two call it neither large nor small; none call it spacious.
  • Transit is one against one: one post walked about eight minutes from Konkuk University station, another warns it's a bit far from the subway. Other posts that give an exit number and distance copied them from a map listing.
  • Nobody wrote about waiting in line. Almost everyone had a reservation, so we don't know what happens if you turn up without one.
  • Several posts give the same opening hours — noon to 10 pm with a 3–6 pm break, closed Sundays and Mondays — but mostly in info blocks copied to the top of the post, and two say 'daily' before listing those closing days. Two posts give 1:30 pm as last order, which looks like the lunch cutoff; nobody gives a dinner last order.
  • The lunch price has gone up: two January 2026 posts give 70,000 won, three posts from April on give 85,000 won. Dinner stayed at 120,000 won from January to September. One post describes a single 150,000 won Christmas menu.
  • The menu changes with the season — gurnard, cod and yellowtail rolls in winter posts; strawberry tart, rapeseed greens and monkfish in spring; peach gazpacho, croaker and tilefish in summer. Dishes listed here may not be on when you go.
  • Four posts give the same phone number, 02-465-9125. Most bookings were made through CatchTable or Naver; nobody mentions booking by phone.
  • Some posts were not counted: two July 2026 promotions for the EU Restaurant Week carry the same event-menu blurb, and one introduction is built from scraped review counts and keyword stats rather than a meal.
