Ilsang Hwasik

일상화식 Ilsang hwasik means 'everyday Japanese food' — two posts relay the house's own explanation that it stands for Japanese rice bowls you can eat in daily life.

Compiled from 18 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Japanese rice-bowl restaurant on the ground floor of the Housd Sejong Tower retail wing, a three-to-five-minute walk from Seongsu Station exit 1. Kaisendon (17,000 won) is the signature, with a separate weekday-lunch kaisendon (14,000 won); posts list a long menu of chashu, steak, katsu and beef bowls, ramen (10,000 won), udon and cold soba. You order on a kiosk at each table and help yourself to kimchi and pickled radish from tubs on the table. Many posts describe a lunchtime crowd of nearby office workers. We read 21 posts from October 2024 to September 2026; 19 of them describe actually eating here.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. You order from your seat: five posts used the kiosk or tablet at each table, and one notes each item carries a short description.
  2. Six posts, from October 2024 to February 2026, mention free chicken karaage for posting a receipt review; one received three pieces. One visitor arriving around 11:30 was told the freebie was not ready yet, and another said staff explained the process very curtly.
  3. Portions split five to four. The 'too small' side is mostly about the kaisendon — posts say there was too little fish and rice was left over. The 'generous' side covers the ramen, chashu bowl, kimchi gyudon, cream udon and a doubled katsudon. One post advises ordering kaisendon as a double.
  4. No post describes a long wait. Four walked straight in (two weekday lunches, a Friday lunch, and one as first customers before 11 a.m.); two waited — one warns of a lunchtime line, another wrote their name on the sheet by the door and got in sooner than expected thanks to the many two- and four-person tables. Nobody gave a wait in minutes.
2 more
  1. Food usually came quickly — five posts say so. One October 2025 evening visit waited a long time because delivery orders were backed up, and advises avoiding dinner time.
  2. Nine posts call it clean, pointing to the wood-toned interior, indirect lighting and rattan-and-wood chairs. Four say the room is spacious, and three describe the two- and four-seat tables.

The most ordered dish is kaisendon (카이센동) — 6 of 18 posts.

Parking

1 posts say you can park; 1 say you cannot. We leave the disagreement standing rather than picking a side.

Posts saying you can park1 of 18 posts
Posts saying you cannot1 of 18 posts

Parking reports conflict: a September 2026 post says there is none, while a July 2025 visitor parked in the building's retail wing for three and a half hours and paid 14,000 won. Other posts' 'parking available' or 'parking tight' lines are copied listings, which we did not count.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 1 (of 18 posts read)

No post mentions a step, ramp, or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller — that means nobody wrote about it, not that it is a problem. One post notes the shop is on the ground floor of a large commercial building.

No post describes the restroom from experience. One post's header line lists the toilet as outside the shop, but in a copied-listing format we did not count.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 20 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours have been written differently over time. Posts from March and May 2025 give weekdays 11:15–21:20, Saturday into the evening and Sundays closed; a September 2025 post has weekdays closing at 21:00 (last order 20:30). Two September 2026 posts say weekdays 11:15–21:00 and lunch only on Saturday and Sunday, but disagree on the weekend window (11:00–15:00 vs 11:30–15:30). Two posts give a weekday break of 14:40–17:00. All of these are copied listings; check before you go.
  • The weekday-lunch kaisendon went up: 13,000 won in June 2025, 14,000 won in September and October 2025. The regular kaisendon stayed at 17,000 won from December 2024 to October 2025; after that, only three dish prices were reported, in January and February 2026.
  • Four posts give the phone number as 0507-1424-5616; one has 5615 instead. Reservations appear only in copied listing lines — no post describes booking ahead.
