Hinosin

히노신 Hinoshin is a Japanese-sounding name the posts never explain; two bloggers guessed at 'heart of fire' (hi meaning fire), which the house has not confirmed.

Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →

Hinoshin is an izakaya on the second floor of 41-26 Yeonmujang-gil, near exit 4 of Seongsu Station. Its centrepiece is a brick-ringed irori hearth where whole fish are skewered and stood up to roast, alongside a yakitori omakase of the day (7 skewers for 24,000 won, 10 for 34,000). The fish changes daily, so posts quote anything from 34,000 won for mackerel to 50,000 for rockfish, about 56,000 for horse mackerel and about 90,000 for blackthroat seaperch; drinks lean on Kirin Ichiban draft, sake and shochu. We read 30 posts dated 15 May to 2 October 2026; 28 describe a meal there (one was about the bakery next door and was set aside, one is a list of 25 bars). Several posts give the phone number as 02-6949-2880.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. The counter seats face the hearth and the open kitchen. Thirteen posts mention the open kitchen, and counter diners describe watching fish roast upright by the fire and staff fanning the skewers. One group of four seated at a table wrote that they could not see the hearth or smell the fire from there, and advised asking for the counter when booking.
  2. Seating is a mix of counter and tables, as 16 posts say. Tables are few: one post counts two four-seat tables, another says two tables in all, and four posts call the room small.
  3. A dressed cabbage plate comes free when you sit down; 12 posts mention it, nearly always praising the sauce. Two say it is refilled — one writer had it three times. Water is served as barley tea.
  4. Five posts say food was slow to arrive. Many repeat the house warning that grilled fish takes 20 to 30 minutes (we did not count the warning itself); one writer ordered ochazuke to fill the gap. A May visitor reported a missed order and slow dishes, and said they would not return.

  1. Four posts call it expensive. One balked at about 56,000 won for a single horse mackerel; another paid 16,000 won for a glass of sweet-potato shochu. A self-paid July visit with a receipt put dinner at 40,000 to 60,000 won a head including drinks.

Getting inside

Second floor11 of 26 posts
In a basementyes 0 · no 2 (of 26 posts read)
Toilet inside3 of 26 posts

The bar is upstairs, reached by a staircase. Eleven posts place it on the second floor, two note that the basement and ground floor are other businesses, and one says it spans the second and third floors up to a rooftop.

Several posts mention climbing stairs, but nobody says whether there is a lift, a step at the door, or room for a wheelchair or pushchair. We do not know.

Three posts say the toilet is inside the bar; none says whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 27 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Four posts say there is a rooftop and two say there seems to be one, but none clearly sat up there — rain or summer heat kept them indoors.
  • No post reports queueing; one group of four walked straight in at about 5:50 pm on 20 August. Others found it nearly full at 6:30 and 9 pm on weekdays, and two booked ahead through CatchTable.
  • Most posts copy the same hours: Tuesday to Saturday 5 pm to midnight, Sunday 5 to 11 pm, last order an hour before closing, closed Mondays. Single posts differ: one August post gives 5 pm to 1 am, another August post 5 to 11 pm Tuesday to Sunday, and one October post 5 to 11 pm.
  • Two prices disagree. Kirin draft is 9,000 won in three posts and 9,500 in three others from the same July–August stretch, and the 7-skewer set is 24,000 won in five posts but 29,000 in one. We cannot tell which is current.
  • Outside bottles are allowed for a fee: one post lists corkage at 25,000 won for sake, 30,000 for wine, 50,000 for whisky and 30,000 for other spirits. Another says every guest must order a drink.
  • 'No kids' and 'pets welcome' appear only in one post's copied store info; nobody went with a child or a pet, so we did not count them.
  • A September diary post says the cucumber salad has been dropped; a September list post still shows it at 5,000 won, but that is copied widget data. We heard it second-hand and have not confirmed it.
  • Five posts share the same hashtag bundle, two of them identical down to the order of all ten tags; each still records a different meal and company, so we counted them. One post discloses partial sponsorship, and three say they paid their own way.
