Japanese

Gyuendang Seongsu Bonjeom

규엔당 성수본점 Gyu is the Japanese word for beef, as in gyukatsu, and dang is a word for a house or hall; none of the posts explains the middle syllable.

Compiled from 25 blog posts read in fullSources →

A gyukatsu shop on the second floor of a building on Yeonmujang 7ga-gil, a short walk from exit 3 of Seongsu Station, above a taco place called God Eat. The beef arrives in a crust with the inside still rare, and you finish each piece on a small charcoal grill at your seat, with Isigny butter, wasabi, salt, sauce, rice, miso soup and cabbage salad. Tenderloin gyukatsu is 24,000 won and striploin 19,000 won; there is also brie omurice (23,000 won), rice bowls and udon. We read 30 posts dated 16 September to 5 October 2026; 25 record an actual meal. Two were about the Seolleung branch of the same name and were set aside.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Six posts waited and three walked straight in. One family arrived around 11:40 on a weekend to find three groups ahead and waited about 30 minutes; another saw a queue at 3 pm on a weekend; one waited about 10 minutes on a weekday evening despite a booking. The three who walked in came on weekdays or around 8 pm. Posts mention writing your name at the door or joining the list on a tablet or CatchTable.
  2. Six posts booked ahead or noticed many reserved tables. Several say the booking let them skip the queue; one who walked in on a weekday lunch found many tables already reserved.
  3. Eight posts mention a review event. The gift is usually two small okonomiyaki pieces; one post from 29 September says fried chicken skin instead. The offer is printed on a card at the table.
  4. Five posts speak well of the staff: they light the grill at your seat, swap out a cooled or dirty plate and the fuel, and top up the salad when asked.
3 more
  1. Six posts say the room is not large; it mixes bar seats with two- and four-person tables. On spacing, three posts found the tables comfortably apart and one found them packed close together. Five posts describe the room as calm and quiet.
  2. Three posts came with children. One family ordered gyukatsu and udon for the kids and warns that the open grill at every seat means watching small hands. Another says poor ventilation and long waits mean they will not return.
  3. Nine posts found it an easy walk from Seongsu Station; most put it at three to five minutes from exit 3.

Parking

3 posts say you cannot park. None say you can.

Posts saying you cannot3 of 25 posts

There is no parking at the shop; three posts say so, including two who drove. One parked at the paid lot in the nearby SK V1 Tower, at 6,000 won for the first hour and 1,500 won per 10 minutes after.

Where it is

Map showing where Gyuendang Seongsu Bonjeom is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Nine posts found it an easy walk from Seongsu Station; most put it at three to five minutes from exit 3.

Getting inside

Second floor19 of 25 posts

It is upstairs. Nineteen posts describe going up to the second floor. The ground floor is a different restaurant, God Eat; one writer opened that door by mistake. Another notes a standing sign and menu at street level.

No one mentions a step at the entrance, wheelchair or stroller access, or a lift. That means we don't know, not that there is none. Several posts describe climbing stairs to the second floor.

No post says where the toilet is or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 28 posts we gathered, 3 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-10-012 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • A gyukatsu set costs 19,000 won (striploin) or 24,000 won (tenderloin). Two posts found it expensive for lunch, one called it reasonable, and one said it was not cheap but worth it. One post lists the striploin at 18,000 won.
  • Opening hours: eleven posts copy the same listing — weekdays 11:00–21:30, weekends 11:30–22:00, with a 15:00–17:00 break on weekdays only. Six others give different times, such as an 11:00 weekend opening or a 22:00 weekday close. All of these are copied from listings, so check before you go.
  • Six posts give the same phone number, 0507-1349-6000; bookings are made through Naver or CatchTable. The claim that groups of six or more are not accepted appears only as copied or hearsay information.
  • All 30 posts fall within three weeks, and titles and hashtags keep repeating the same keywords ('Seongsu date Japanese restaurant', 'Seongsu Station lunch'). Two posts share the same sentences and the same order. None discloses sponsorship; three say the writer paid.
