Japanese

Gorogoro Seongsu

고로고로 성수 Gorogoro is Japanese for big chunks tumbling and rolling about — one visitor reads it as a nod to the thick-cut tuna piled on the rice.

Data as of · Published ·

A Japanese seafood rice-bowl shop on the ground floor of the Lamkin Officetel on Achasan-ro 13-gil, toward exit 2 of Seongsu Station. The signature gorogoro bowl — chopped fatty tuna, octopus, squid and conch — is 20,000 won plain or 24,000 won with sea urchin or sweet shrimp; eel bowls run 32,000–34,000 won. You wrap bites in laver, then leave about a third of the rice and ask for broth, which staff pour over to finish as ochazuke. We read 30 posts dated 20 August to 2 October 2026, set aside 3 about other Gorogoro shops in Yeosu and Yongsan, and counted 23 that record an actual meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Most people book. Eight posts either booked through Naver or CatchTable or tell you to. Three say they waited or saw a queue form behind them; four walked straight in. One got in just after 11 a.m. and watched a line form soon after; another booked for 11:30 on a Thursday, found it full by noon with names on the waitlist, and said walk-ins were simply turned away. The walk-straight-in visits were at 4 p.m. on a Saturday, around 8 p.m. on a weekday, or with a booking.
  2. There are both counter seats and tables; five posts make that clear. One writer counted them: a counter for about four in front of the kitchen on the left, five window-facing counter seats, and tables for around twenty. Two posts mention the open kitchen visible behind the noren curtain.
  3. You order from a tablet at your seat — six posts say so, and one used the table e-order to ask for the ochazuke broth. One August 2026 diner hit a power cut mid-meal that froze the tablets and till, so they couldn't order more laver.
  4. Writing a review gets you food. Five posts got something this way — a pork cutlet three times, a fried platter once, a highball once. One cutlet recipient called it just an ordinary cutlet and said the drink would be the better pick. Another noted the reward depends on how many reviews your table writes.
  5. It's a walk from Seongsu Station: four posts put it at 5, 7 or 8 minutes, or about 400 m, from exit 2. One writer disagreed, saying it was a bit far from the station and hard going on a hot day.

Getting there

Map showing where Gorogoro Seongsu is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for the address instead.

Getting inside

The address and directions say ground floor, but no post describes the floor or any stairs from experience.

No post says whether there's a step at the door or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in — only that you pull open a large silver stainless door. That's an absence of reports, not a confirmed barrier.

No post says where the toilet is. 'Separate men's and women's toilets' appears once, copied from the shop's amenity list, and another post just captions a photo 'toilet'.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 25 posts we gathered, 4 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Portions split opinion. Three posts found the bowl generous or filling; one found it much smaller and thinner than expected. Two said the bowl looked small but turned out filling. One writer said the plain bowl comes with just two small pieces of tuna on top, so add a topping.
  • Prices: 20,000 won for the plain gorogoro, 24,000 won with a topping, 32,000–34,000 won for eel, 6,000 won for a highball. Two posts called it expensive, one called it good value, two didn't conclude. A local office worker who'd been about thirty times switched to a similar place more than 20% cheaper. A bowl plus a drink lands in the mid-20,000s to 30,000s.
  • The broth is disputed. The house calls it sea-bream stock, but several writers said it tastes like beef-bone soup, one found it a bit like a retort pouch, and another thought the chopped seafood cooked in it didn't suit it. A regular said a lactose-intolerant colleague got a stomach ache every time. We can't confirm what goes into it.
  • Posts agree on hours: 11:30–21:00, break 15:00–16:30, last order 20:20. They differ on weekends — two say there's no break on weekends, one says only Sunday, one lists the days as Monday–Saturday only. One visitor got in at 4 p.m. on a Saturday, which fits no Saturday break. No post mentions a closing day. The phone is 0507-1382-4466; one writer called ahead about arriving five minutes before last order and was told that was fine.
