Ekkiudong

에끼우동 Eki is Japanese for 'station' — the name means station udon, the quick bowl sold at Japanese train stations; one blogger titled his post 'udon sold at stations really is the tastiest'.

Compiled from 24 blog posts read in fullSources →

A Japanese udon shop at the far end of Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu, roughly halfway between Seongsu and Konkuk Univ. stations. You pay at a kiosk on the way in, sit down, and the food is brought to you. The basic Ekki udon is 7,000 won, thin-noodle Inaniwa udon 9,000 won (10,000 cold), and tendon 10,000 won — unchanged from a July 2025 visit through July 2026. Mostly bar seating, with some outdoor tables in front. We read 28 posts from September 2025 to September 2026. We set aside 3 that were really about the omakase bar behind the building or the pop-up across the street, which leaves 25 first-hand visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Ordering is by kiosk — nine posts say so. One describes paying first, taking a seat and leaving your order slip on the table so staff bring the food. Another says water, cutlery and condiments are self-service. One suggests reading the table menu before you go up to order.
  2. Cheapness is the most common theme: fifteen posts call it inexpensive for Seongsu, and none call it expensive. One couple paid 17,000 won for two bowls. Another notes that tendon, the priciest item, is 10,000 won, though toppings push a bowl past that.
  3. Eight posts say the portions are large; one diner couldn't finish half the bowl. One post found it just right but thought big eaters might want more.
  4. There are outdoor tables in front: seven posts mention them, and eight mention the big windows or window seats. One thinks the whole front opens up on fine days. A December 2025 post found the outdoor tables out of use in the cold, and a July 2025 visitor thought they would be too hot in summer.
3 more
  1. The kitchen is open: five posts watched the cooking, and one said the clean kitchen reassured them. One post says dishes are made to order and came after a 7–10 minute wait.
  2. Six posts call the tempura crisp (tendon and shrimp tempura). One counted three large shrimp plus fishcake, carrot, sweet potato and potato in the tendon; another felt the potato crowded out variety.
  3. Five posts say it's an easy walk from the subway: 10–12 minutes from Seongsu exit 3 or Konkuk Univ. exit 6. Two found it far — one said Konkuk Univ. may be the closer station, the other put the walk at 15 minutes and called it a drawback.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Five posts say it's an easy walk from the subway: 10–12 minutes from Seongsu exit 3 or Konkuk Univ. exit 6. Two found it far — one said Konkuk Univ. may be the closer station, the other put the walk at 15 minutes and called it a drawback.

Getting inside

No post describes what floor it is on from experience; only the address says ground floor.

No one mentions a step at the entrance or getting in with a wheelchair or stroller. That doesn't mean there's a problem — no one wrote about it.

Two posts list the restroom as inside the building or shop in their info boxes, but no one describes using it, and no one says whether it's separated by gender.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Staff impressions vary. Four posts found them kind — one got a free cola when the inari ran out, a family got dumplings on the house, and another was given sashimi and tuna. One post found the staff curt when asking questions.
  • Five posts say the broth isn't salty. One disagreed: eaten without stirring, the concentrated broth sank to the bottom and the bowl got saltier toward the end.
  • Three posts call the room small. In January 2026 one found it packed, likely because of a nearby pop-up, while another found it quiet at 1 p.m. on a weekday.
  • No post describes actually waiting in line. One passer-by had always seen a queue but found it empty at 10:30 a.m.; another walked straight in at an early lunch. Two posts say there may be a wait at lunch (one says 10–20 minutes), but neither waited themselves. One post shows waiting chairs outside the door.
  • All the opening hours are copied from listings. Eight posts give 10:00–21:00 on weekdays and 11:00–21:00 on weekends, and eight give a weekday break from 15:00 to 17:00. Three posts from May–June 2026 give a 22:00 close, two of them starting the week on Tuesday, while two later posts say 21:00 again. Check before you go.
  • Five posts give the same phone number, 0507-1358-7534. No one says whether the shop takes reservations.
  • Several posts say the building belongs to the YouTube channel 'Channel Owner Absent' or that its team runs the shop; that's hearsay and we don't rely on it. There's also talk that the omakase bar behind is under the same owner, but we set those posts aside.
