Cafe

Bokado Beoteo

보카도버터 Bocado is Spanish for 'a mouthful' or 'a bite' — the shop's thin butter crisp is itself called a bocado, and butter is its main flavour.

Bocado Butter's Seongsu flagship is a small dessert café on an alley off Yeonmujang-gil. Its one product is the bocado, a paper-thin folded butter crisp you dip into coconut, butter-caramel, coffee or cacao cream. Eight cost 7,500 won, eight with a coffee 10,000 won, and each cream 1,200 won. People either eat in or take a yellow box away. We read 21 posts from 28 August to 5 October 2026. We set one aside because it never actually covers this shop, which leaves 20 firsthand visits.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. There is a hand-washing sink at the back of the room, and nine posts mention it. You eat the bocados with your fingers, so writers appreciated being able to wash first. One said it is exactly what you need when wet wipes aren't enough.
  2. The room is small. Thirteen posts call it cosy or not very big, and none call it spacious. There is still somewhere to sit: posts keep describing a bar counter along the wall plus tables further in. One writer counted a bar table, one two-seater and one four-seater.
  3. You can watch the bocados being made. Seven posts describe seeing them cooked one at a time on a wide griddle at the front or just inside. Several add that the smell of butter carries down the alley.
  4. Seven posts took their order away. The ten-piece order comes in a yellow box, and one writer noted the bocados were vacuum-sealed to keep them from going soft.
5 more
  1. Two posts say the order came out quickly, packed straight off the griddle. Nobody complained of a slow wait.
  2. Most writers found it only mildly sweet. Six posts say the bocado or the creams are not very sweet. One post disagreed: that writer found the bocado almost tasteless, said you were really just eating the cream, thought the coffee was too weak, and left disappointed.
  3. Four posts mention power outlets, and two of them say every table has one. Writers found it handy for recharging a phone during a day out in Seongsu.
  4. Four posts mention a review event: leave a review and you get one dipping cream free.
  5. No one calls it expensive. Four posts say the prices are fair, and one singled out the iced Americano as especially cheap. One writer gave the price of four marshmallow sandwiches, 5,000 won, and wondered how anyone could sell them. That post doesn't conclude whether the price is fair.

Where it is

Map showing where Bokado Beoteo is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

1 posts say it is walkable from the station.

Getting inside

We don't know what floor it is on. The address says ground floor, but no writer describes the floor or any stairs from their own visit.

Nobody says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or pushchair gets in. That doesn't mean there is a problem, only that no one wrote about it. Many posts call the room small, so we can't say how easy it is to move around in a wheelchair either.

We don't know about the toilet. One writer praised a stylish restroom, then said straight afterwards that the shop only has a hand-washing sink. We can't tell whether there is a toilet inside.

No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • The opening hours change depending on when the post was written, and every post copied them from the shop's own listing. Three posts up to 8 September say 11:00–20:00. Six posts from 11 to 18 September say 10:30–22:00, and four of those add that it opens at 13:00 on Wednesdays. Four posts from 20 September on say 10:30–20:00 daily. One post from 4 September says 10:00–22:00. No post mentions a closing day. The latest figure is 10:30–20:00 daily, but it is worth checking before you go.
  • Most directions in the posts were copied from the listing: about 230 m from Seongsu Station exit 3, or about 500 m straight from exit 4 and then left into the alley. Only one writer says they actually came by public transport and walked.
  • No one reports queuing. That isn't proof there is never a queue, only that nobody wrote about one. One writer went on a weekday afternoon because they expected weekend queues to be long, but that is a guess, so we didn't count it.
  • Several posts copied the phone number, 0507-1393-1399. One post copied a line saying Naver booking is available, but no writer says they booked.
  • The same phrases appear across many posts, almost word for word: an unforgettable feeling from a single bite, a one-of-a-kind shop found only in Seongsu, the 'happy box', a picnic in Seoul Forest. We treated these as the shop's own promotional copy and didn't use them as evidence. No post discloses sponsorship, and two say the writer paid their own way.
