Chinese

Bobae Banjeom Seongsu

보배반점 성수점 Bobae means 'treasure' and banjeom is the old Korean word for a Chinese restaurant — the 'Treasure Chinese Restaurant'; the neon sign inside reads 宝貝飯店.

Compiled from 20 blog posts read in fullSources →

Bobae Banjeom Seongsu is a branch of a Chinese-Korean chain on the ground floor of Seoul Forest Kolon Digital Tower 2, a 5–9 minute walk from Seongsu Station exit 4. Jjajangmyeon is ₩8,000, jjamppong ₩10,000 and the cream jjamppong ₩14,000; solo sets with eight pieces of sweet and sour pork start at ₩15,000 and two-person sets at ₩31,000. You order on a tablet or kiosk at the table and help yourself to pickles, zha cai and rice at a self-serve bar. We read 29 posts from 1 September to 5 October 2026. We set aside 8 that were about other branches or delivery, which leaves 20 written after a visit. Two of those 20 say the restaurant provided the meal.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Expect to wait, even after the lunch rush. Six posts report waiting: about 5 minutes at a weekday lunch, 15 minutes around 3 p.m., 20 minutes behind three groups around 2 p.m. on a weekend, and two groups ahead at 7 p.m. on a Saturday. Another post walked straight in at 6 p.m. but found a line outside on leaving around 7. Only one post, which came mid-afternoon, said there was no wait. Two posts booked ahead for 7 p.m. on a weekday.
  2. The waiting happens outside: four posts mention sitting on chairs by the door, next to a board where you write your name.
  3. Rice is free and unlimited from the self-serve bar. Sixteen posts mention going back to the bar for pickles, zha cai, onion and rice; several finished their jjamppong broth with rice, and one went back for pickles twice.
  4. Ordering and payment happen at the table: eleven posts used a tablet or kiosk there, and one notes it switches between four languages.
5 more
  1. Fourteen posts say the portions are large. The ₩14,000 'mini' sweet and sour pork drew comments like 'is this really a mini?' and 'two of us couldn't finish it'; one post took leftovers home.
  2. Eight posts say the cream jjamppong isn't heavy. One disagrees: it felt a little rich at first and fell short of the hype. Several mention dried Vietnamese chillies giving it a mild heat; one notes its spice level can't be adjusted.
  3. Four posts noticed many foreign diners; one says everyone but them was Chinese. Several posts call it a pilgrimage spot for fans of the K-pop group RIIZE, whose agency is nearby, but that is hearsay and we didn't count it.
  4. Six posts mention a stamp-card box at the entrance (one stamp per ₩10,000, says one), and five mention a phone-charging spot.
  5. It's an easy walk from the subway. Two posts walked from Seongsu Station exit 4: about 5 minutes for one, 9 minutes through weekend crowds (6 at a brisk pace) for the other. One post points out a village-bus stop right outside the restaurant.

From the station

It's an easy walk from the subway. Two posts walked from Seongsu Station exit 4: about 5 minutes for one, 9 minutes through weekend crowds (6 at a brisk pace) for the other. One post points out a village-bus stop right outside the restaurant.

Getting inside

In a basementyes 0 · no 3 (of 20 posts read)
Toilet insideyes 0 · no 1 (of 20 posts read)

Three posts place it on the ground floor, and one adds that you don't need to enter the building — it's on the left side as you face it.

We don't know whether there's a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller gets in. Two posts came with children, but nobody described the entrance — that means no one wrote about it, not that there's no barrier.

The toilet seems to be outside the restaurant: one post says staff directed them to it, another that it's kept locked with a dedicated key. 'External toilet' and 'separate men's and women's' appear only in copied info lines, so we didn't count them.

No one mentioned: Second floor · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 21 posts we gathered, 1 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Sixteen posts give the same opening hours — daily 11:00–22:00, last order 21:30 — but all copied from an info block. One says it's open year-round, with a day off over the Chuseok holiday.
  • Prices come from posts in September–October 2026; most single-dish prices rest on one post each, and none conflict. Four posts called it cheap.
  • Seven posts list the phone number as 02-465-5186; one gives 02-499-1060. Two posts booked a 7 p.m. weekday table but didn't say how.
  • The menu grew in September 2026: three posts describe mala and basil versions of the cream jjamppong, fried corn and basil cream shrimp as new. None of the posts from before mid-September mention them.
  • Six posts end with the same block of hashtags in the same order, and three use the same 'RIIZE delivery favourite' line — possible signs of commissioned posts. Each describes a different order and visit time, so we still counted them as visits.
