Cafe
Toonique
투니크 유니버스점 Tunikeu Yunibeoseujeom A coined name built on 'toon' (as in cartoon and webtoon) — fittingly, the house runs rotating anime and webtoon collaboration cafés; 'Universe' is what it calls this Hapjeong branch.

An anime and webtoon collaboration café occupying a whole two-storey building at Yanghwa-ro 78-17, near exit 3 of Hapjeong Station. It is registered as Toonique Hapjeong, but every post calls it Toonique Universe. The theme changes every three to four weeks, taking the menu, merchandise and décor with it: right now it is the villainess webtoon (until 11 October), with The Apothecary Diaries announced from 15 October; before that came Death Note (April–May), Pichi Pichi Pitch (May–June), hololive (June–July), NANA (July–August) and Rent-a-Girlfriend (August–September). Collaboration drinks were always 7,000 won, desserts 8,000–10,000, illustrated cookies 4,000. You order and shop on the ground floor and sit upstairs, in 105-minute slots booked through Naver. We read 30 posts dated 31 March to 8 October 2026: 19 written after a visit, 10 announcements copied from the official channels, and 1 about somewhere else.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.
What sets it apart
- This is a book-ahead place. Eleven posts went with a Naver reservation. Slots start at 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 o'clock and last 105 minutes; several posts say walk-ins are let in to leftover seats only 30 minutes into each slot. One writer said her slot had zero other customers yet walk-ins were still made to wait, and called the operation inflexible. The 3,000-won refundable deposit comes from the copied notices.
- Without a booking you wait. Five posts say they or others waited; one found it empty. The waits written down: 10–15 minutes (arrived 5:15 pm, in at 5:30), arriving 30 minutes early to queue, and on the last day of Death Note nearly an hour in the sun only to be told there were no seats and it was takeaway only. One post watched walk-ins waiting outside on a weekend afternoon. The one quiet visit was a weekend near the end of the NANA run.
- There is a four-cut photo booth outside on the upstairs terrace. Nine posts mention it, and the frame changes with each collaboration. One gives 5,000 won for two prints, another 5,000 portrait and 6,000 landscape. Several found it hot out there; two warned the frame doesn't show on screen, so you have to guess where the characters will land; one found the machine broken.
- Easy by subway. Seven posts walked from Hapjeong Station, putting it anywhere from three to about ten minutes on foot. One says to leave by exit 3 and turn right at the Aladin used bookstore; another says it's about 15 minutes from Hongik University Station. One writer found it less convenient than Toonique's Hongdae branch.

- Two posts said you pay a collaboration premium: one called the quality so-so for the price, the other suggested thinking of a drink as 4,000 won of drink plus a 4,000-won coaster. Every menu item comes with a random coaster, and one post noted the one-item-per-person rule for using a table.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.
From the station

Getting inside

Seating is upstairs only. Sixteen posts ordered on the ground floor and went up to sit; one put it flatly: there are no seats at all downstairs. Several describe booked guests claiming a table upstairs first, then coming down to order. During NANA there was a floor-seated nook styled as Hachi's room, which one post found uncomfortable for long. Only one post, a paid one, placed the café on a third floor.
No post mentions a basement; sixteen describe sitting upstairs. Which floor you enter on is less clear — most place the counter on the ground floor, but two posts describe climbing stairs to reach it. We couldn't settle it.
Nobody wrote about a step at the door, wheelchair or pushchair access, or a lift — that means we don't know, not that there isn't one. Several posts describe taking stairs up to the seating floor, and the one family visit said nothing about getting between floors.
The only toilet mention is one post changing into a newly bought T-shirt there. Which floor it is on, and whether it is split by gender, nobody said.
No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 29 posts we gathered, 10 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Company doesn't cluster: one post went with a boyfriend, one with a friend, one with a primary-school son. One writer noticed many solo visitors but didn't say whether she was one.
- Opening hours: all ten visit posts that give them say 11:00–21:00, but every one is copied from a collaboration notice and applies to that run. Last order is given as 20:30 by one post and 15 minutes before each slot ends by another. Whether it opens between collaborations (say 4–27 May), nobody said.
- Only one post gave a phone number (0507-1486-1118). Everyone who booked did so through Naver; the no same-day booking or cancellation rule comes from the copied notices.
- Our counts pool five collaboration runs. Menu names, décor, merchandise and perks differ from run to run — Pichi Pichi Pitch posts dwell on the drinks, NANA posts on the rooms. Prices held steady: 7,000 won a drink, 4,000 a cookie. The ten announcement posts all copy the same official notices, so we didn't count them, and one visit post disclosed a commission.
