Susanghan Bagel

수상한베이글 Susanghan means 'suspicious' or 'strange' — the Strange Bagel; the bagels carry pun names in the same spirit, like 'Tuning Ends in Plain' for the plain one.

Compiled from 19 blog posts read in fullSources →

A bagel bakery-café in a two-storey house with a fountain garden, tucked into an alley off Sangsu Station exit 1 at 22 Wausan-ro 15-gil, Mapo-gu. You load a tray with bagels from the ground-floor display, then pay and order drinks at the counter. Posted prices run from 3,000 won for a plain bagel to 8,800 won for the jambon bagel, with americano at 4,900 won. Seating is spread over a lower level, the ground floor, a half-landing, the second floor with its terrace, and the garden; several posts mention microwaves by the seats for warming bagels. We read 30 posts from 27 May to 9 October 2026, 21 of them actual visits. We set aside two posts about other branches and counted one visit that was posted twice only once.

When it opens
Daily09:30–22:008 of 9 posts

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. Outdoor seating defines the place: 16 of the 21 visits mention the second-floor terrace or tables in the ground-floor garden. One writer noted fountain spray wetting the path over the little bridge at the entrance; another sat outside because the indoor air-conditioning was too strong. A winter visitor found only the indoor rooms open.
  2. Three posts call it roomy; one wished the indoor space were larger.
  3. Six posts describe walking from the subway: about 3–4 minutes from Sangsu Station exit 1, about 15 minutes from Hongik University Station exit 9. One writer who got off at Hongdae said Sangsu would have been quicker.
  4. Three posts found prices fair and one called the pizza bagel just an expensive bun; two of the three favourable posts belong to the early-June promotional batch below. Posted prices: bagels 3,000–8,800 won, croissant 6,900, americano 4,900, signature drinks 6,500–7,800.
2 more
  1. Three posts mention a hand-washing sink inside, placed by one on the half-landing room and by others on the second floor.
  2. One post plainly called the bagels ordinary, adding that they were a little dry late in the evening. Others hedged: don't expect fresh-from-the-oven taste since they are baked ahead; one found them slightly chewy. Two afternoon visitors found the display largely sold out.

Two posts say first-hand there is no parking of its own; one driver parked at the nearby Mapo 365 community-centre lot and walked over. Other posts repeat a no-parking line from the listing, which we did not count.

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

From the station

Six posts describe walking from the subway: about 3–4 minutes from Sangsu Station exit 1, about 15 minutes from Hongik University Station exit 9. One writer who got off at Hongdae said Sangsu would have been quicker.

Getting inside

Second floor12 of 19 posts

Twelve posts mention second-floor seating, and many chose the windows there overlooking the garden. One early-morning visit in July 2026 found indoor seats only on the second floor, unlike the posts describing lower-level and half-landing rooms; we can't tell whether some floors were simply closed at that hour.

You enter at ground level; posts describe a lower level (one says about half a floor down), a half-landing and a second floor. Nobody says whether you have to take stairs or whether there is a lift.

No post mentions a step at the door or arriving by wheelchair. Posts mention crossing a small bridge beside the fountain at the entrance and climbing stairs to the second floor; one writer only guessed that a stroller would be easier on the terrace. That means nobody wrote about it, not that access is impossible.

Nobody describes where the toilets are or whether they are separate by gender; the sink mentioned in posts is a hand-washing basin.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 7 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Five posts from 1–11 June 2026 repeat the same lines in the same order (bakers working every morning, dough adjusted to each topping, no preservatives or colourings, picked by a Chinese restaurant app); only one is marked as an ad. We treat those lines as the shop's own claims, not observations.
  • Three posts say they saw many foreign customers, but all three are in the June promotional batch; elsewhere one writer only noticed Chinese text at the counter.
  • Three posts praise the staff, all from the June batch. No other post discusses service, except one whose no-ice request came back full of ice.
  • No post reports queuing. One winter weekday visit saw it fill up fast, and another found it crowded; we know nothing about weekend waits.
  • Only one post mentions a strict one-item-per-person rule; no other post brings it up.
  • Nine visit posts give the hours as 09:30–22:00 daily, all copied from the listing; nobody mentions a break or last-order time.
  • The phone number 0507-1315-4096 appears in five posts, copied from the listing; reservations are listed as available, but no one wrote about booking.
  • Prices for the same item don't change between posts, though one post gives both 7,800 and 7,600 won for the Harry Potter Einspänner. Prices from posts about other branches (e.g. a 2,000-won takeout americano) are not this shop's and were left out.
