Obiya is a soba and sukiyaki house on the second floor of a building in a Seogyo-dong side street (27-20 Hongik-ro 2-gil), near Hongik University Station. The dish people order most is tomato soba (12,000 won): 18 of the 21 visit posts ate it. Pairs tend to order the two-person Kansai-style sukiyaki set, cooked at the table by staff, or the weekday tomato soba set, with gimbap rolled around buckwheat noodles instead of rice. We read 30 posts from November 2025 to October 2026; 21 record an actual visit. We did not count five posts copying a TV segment, two multi-restaurant lists and one post with no meal in it, and we set aside one post about a different restaurant.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.

What sets it apart

  1. Waiting splits evenly: five posts waited, five walked straight in. The waits were on two weekend lunches, a weekday around 7 pm, and one lunch described as a fairly long wait; another post found a queue forming as they left. The walk-ins came early in the morning, just after opening, after 1 pm on a Sunday, at a weekend lunch, and with a reservation. Two posts mention waiting chairs, one counting two chairs by the CatchTable kiosk at the door, and three say you can book ahead.
  2. You don't cook the sukiyaki yourself: four of the five posts that ate it say staff cook it at the table. Four posts say portions are large, one noting a single two-person set is plenty, while one found the soba included in a set came in a much smaller bowl. One post said the food took quite a while to arrive.
  3. It is a small room: six posts said it isn't spacious, one counting about 24 seats. Two mention window seats or good daylight, two call it quiet, and one notes an open kitchen.
  4. The frying gets repeated praise: five posts called the assorted tempura, fried shrimp or chicken karaage crisp, and two of them noted juicy insides.
2 more
  1. Three posts say you order by scanning a QR code on the table.
  2. Three posts found prices reasonable; one said it is not a bargain menu. All five visit posts that priced the tomato soba wrote 12,000 won. One post got 6,000 won off by paying with Toss face payment.

The most ordered dish is tomato soba (토마토소바) — 18 of 18 posts.

The prices here are what bloggers wrote down in their posts, and they may have changed since. Check Naver Place for the current menu and prices. This list is not a menu board — it counts what bloggers actually ordered and ate. Check on Naver Place

Getting inside

Second floor7 of 18 posts

The restaurant is upstairs. Seven posts placed it on the second floor, and three of them mention climbing a staircase to get there. The registered address says first floor, but every post written from a visit says second.

We don't know whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in, or whether there is a lift. Three posts climbed stairs to the second floor; none mentioned an elevator or the entrance step. That means nobody wrote about it, not that there isn't one.

Only one post mentions the toilet, saying it is by the entrance; we can't tell whether it is inside the restaurant or shared, or whether it is split by gender.

No one mentioned: In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Toilet inside · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 26 posts we gathered, 8 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-03-194 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • Opening hours are copied differently from post to post. Three give weekdays 11:00 to 21:00 and weekends 11:30 to 21:00, two say 11:00 daily, three say 11:30; the afternoon break is listed as starting at 14:30, 15:00 or 15:30. Most give last orders at 20:00. No post mentions a closing day. All of this is copied information, so check before you go.
  • Set prices differ in single posts. The weekday tomato soba set is mostly 30,000 won, but one May 2026 post wrote 32,000; the sukiyaki set is 58,000 won in the broadcast write-ups and 65,000 in that same May post. One post isn't enough to say prices went up.
  • Two phone numbers appear: 0507-1449-5255 in eight posts and the direct line 02-6408-5262 in four. The restaurant's own notice gives the 02 number for reservations since seats are few. Posts also mention booking through Naver.
  • One post relays that the restaurant has been here a little over ten years and used to be in Garosu-gil. That is hearsay, so we didn't count it.
  • After SBS's Live Today featured the restaurant on March 19, 2026, five posts appeared repeating the same store details and menu in the same order. None record a meal, so we didn't count them.
