ESCENE

이씬 Issin The name is read as 이, SCENE — short for 이토록 특별한 장면, 'such a special scene', the line printed on the house napkins.

Compiled from 14 blog posts read in fullSources →

Issin is a pizza and pasta place one floor below street level in the building that houses the Twosome Place Hongdae Seogyo branch, near exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station. The chestnut pizza (28,000 won) is the dish people come for; pizzas run 19,000 to 32,000 won and pastas 15,000 to 30,000 won. It also serves wine, beer and coffee, and keeps a small bookshop by the entrance. We read 23 posts dated 7 November 2025 to 23 September 2026; 14 describe an actual meal. Of the other nine, eight copy location details after the place appeared on SBS's Teumman Namyeon (episode 57, aired 8 September 2026), and one is a neighbourhood list.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. The spicy ragu pasta (25,000 won) lives up to its name. Four posts call it hot: one says the server double-checked, warning it was hotter than Shin Ramyun; another put it at about Shin Ramyun level; two more call it properly spicy. Two posts note you can ask for a milder level when ordering.
  2. The books are not just props. Four posts mention them: they are for sale, you can actually read them, there is a separate reading corner, and one writer bought a book and signed up for the May book club.
  3. Six posts went with friends, three with a larger group (a party of seven, a group gathering, a work dinner at a six-seat table), and one with a partner. Three say they booked ahead. The party of seven, sharing dishes, found the pasta portions especially small.

Parking

Posts saying you can park1 of 14 posts

One post says there is parking in the building, paid separately. The figures '2,000 won for the first hour, 3 surface spaces and 19 in a mechanical lot' appear only in copied information blocks, and one blogger's own info box says no parking, so this is unsettled.

Getting inside

Second floor6 of 14 posts
In a basement9 of 14 posts
Toilet inside1 of 14 posts

Six posts mention sitting 'upstairs', but this is a raised level inside the basement room, not the building's second floor. Posts place sofas and small tables for two or three on the upper level, and long group tables plus two- and four-tops below.

You go downstairs. Nine posts describe heading down to the basement level, two of them by the stairs. What follows is usually surprise: five posts remark on the high ceiling, and one says the basement is tall enough to be split into two levels.

No post says whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in, or whether there is a lift. Two posts simply walked down the stairs; that is not evidence of no lift, only that nobody mentioned one. The dining room itself is also split across two levels.

One post says the toilet is inside and very clean. Three posts list separate men's and women's toilets, but only inside copied information blocks, so we don't count them.

No one mentioned: Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot

Of the 23 posts we gathered, 9 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.

2026-09-092 posts in one day
2026-09-085 posts in one day

We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know

  • No post reports waiting for a table. A few guess there may be a wait on evenings or weekends, but that is speculation, not experience. Absence of reports is not proof there is no wait.
  • Two posts describe the walk from the station: close to exit 1 of Hongik Univ. Station, about five minutes on foot. Nobody describes getting there by bus.
  • Opening hours have changed. Posts up to May 2026 give 11:30–22:00 with a 15:00–17:00 break and last orders at 21:00; from June they give 11:30–23:00, a 15:00–18:00 break and last orders at 22:00. From August, three posts put weekend opening at 12:30 and one at 12:00. Closed Mondays. Some posts note closures for private hire, so check before going.
  • Prices barely differ between the June and September 2026 lists; only the shio kombu pasta appears once at 19,000 won instead of 18,000. No post totals a bill. One group sharing several dishes went on elsewhere because it wasn't enough, while one post called the prices fair.
  • Several posts list the same phone number, 0507-1394-3824, but all copied it. None says they booked by phone; the three posts that reserved don't say how.
  • Eight posts published within a day or so of the 8 September 2026 broadcast recap the show and copy listing details without a visit; two are the same text reworded. We did not count anything from them.
