HOYO
호요 홍대점 Hoyo Hongdae-jeom
Compiled from 26 blog posts read in fullSources →
Hoyo Hongdae is a teppanyaki izakaya on the ground floor of a side street near Hongdae Playground. Okonomiyaki, yakisoba and chop steak are cooked on a long griddle in the middle of the room; Hiroshima- and Kyoto-style okonomiyaki and yakisoba are 17,000 won each, and Jim Beam highballs and ades are 7,000 won. The most-ordered dish is the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, eaten in fourteen posts. We read 30 posts dated 12 February to 8 October 2026; 26 describe a visit (two were about other places, two only introduced the restaurant). Two disclosed sponsorship, four said they paid themselves, and the other twenty said nothing either way.

The values differ, but the periods they were written in do not overlap. This looks like a change over time rather than a disagreement, and the top row is the most recently reported. We did not confirm it with the restaurant.
What sets it apart
- Eighteen of the 26 visit posts said you can watch the teppan cooking from your seat. The counter seats face the griddle and the flambé; one post said it is hard to see from the ordinary tables. Two August 2026 posts found it too hot by the griddle and watched, then moved to tables under the air conditioning; in one, staff offered to seat them in the hall and call them over for the flambé.
- Ten posts called the room large, with tables on both sides of the counter and more seating further in; one mentioned tables for two to six. One June 2026 post disagreed, saying the space is not big and tables are close, so it does not suit groups over ten.
- Seven posts found it quiet enough to talk; one said it can be a little loud for quiet conversation.
- Six posts described the window seats: on fine days the full-height windows are opened right up, like eating outdoors, and two said customers take those seats first.
7 more
- Ten posts said a small dish of silken tofu with sesame dressing and bonito flakes comes free with drinks; one did not like it. Separately, nine posts were brought vegetable tempura on the house during the meal.
- Eleven posts praised the staff: one was asked whether to bring a cola now or with the food, one had cooled champon reheated by the chef unasked, one was told in advance when the flambé was coming so they could film it.
- Seven posts found portions large, three of them pointing to the champon, so packed with seafood and vegetables a chopstick barely goes in. One post found the yakisoba small.
- Four posts mentioned a free Jim Beam highball or ade for leaving a receipt or Naver review.
- Nine posts went with friends, three with a partner or spouse, one with a sibling; several came as a second stop for the night.
- No post reported waiting. Two said there was no wait, one on a weekday and one on a weekend ('luckily none today'). Three booked ahead, and one advised booking on Naver for weekend peaks.
- Three posts walked from Hongik University Station exit 9 and gave 7, 7-8 and 10 minutes.

Where it is

We could not find this shop’s own listing on Naver Map, so the link searches for its Korean name around this spot instead.

No post describes the floor level from experience. The address says ground floor, but nobody mentioned whether there are steps.
No post describes the entrance step or entering with a wheelchair or pushchair. Three posts carry a 'wheelchair-accessible entrance' line copied from the listing, which we do not count. One noted the door is a push door.
Two posts described the toilets from experience: inside the restaurant and separate for men and women. Other mentions are copied listings and not counted.
No one mentioned: Second floor · In a basement · Lift to the floor · Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

Posts that followed a TV spot
Of the 28 posts we gathered, 2 went up on a single day right after a TV spot and show no sign of a visit. They retell the broadcast, so we left them out of the counts.
We do not discard them. That a TV spot produced a burst of posts is itself something worth knowing about a place, and a star rating will not show it.

What we do not know
- Nineteen posts give opening hours, all copied information blocks. Weekdays 16:50 to 01:50 (last order 00:40) are consistent. Sunday opening splits by date: five posts up to 21 July 2026 say 13:00, ten from 10 August say 15:00 (closing 23:50). Saturday moved from 12:00 (to 2 June) to 13:00 (from 29 June). One October post said weekends open at 12:00. No post mentions a closing day.
- The three-person teppan set was 55,000 won in an April 2026 post, but an October post was told it is no longer sold and only two- and four-person sets remain. The two-person set appears at 45,000 won in August and 56,000 won in September.
- Two posts said prices are reasonable and one found them high, citing a 15,000-won tokkuri of sake. The only full bill given is 113,000 won for three people. A September 2026 post noted okonomiyaki had gone up 1,000 won and yakisoba 6,000 won over three years.
- More than ten posts give the same phone number, 0507-1471-0827; one September 2026 post lists a different number and address, apparently copied from another place. Bookings are taken via Naver and Catchtable; three posts booked ahead.
