Hongik Dakhanmari

홍익닭한마리 Dakhanmari means 'one whole chicken' — a whole bird simmered in broth at the table; Hongik is the name of the university that gives the Hongdae neighborhood its name.

Compiled from 13 blog posts read in fullSources →

Hongik Dakhanmari is a whole-chicken hot pot place on the second floor of a building in a Seogyo-dong side street. The two-person set, a whole chicken with potato, rice cake, mushrooms and leek, costs 29,000 won. You simmer it a few more minutes on a table burner and finish with kalguksu noodles (3,000 won), which twelve posts ordered. Diners mix their own dipping sauce from soy, mustard, chili paste and minced garlic tossed with shredded cabbage, following instructions posted at the table. Nine posts put it a 4 to 10 minute walk from exits 7 or 8 of Hongik University station. We read 13 posts dated 4 September to 18 October 2026, and all 13 describe an actual meal there.

Counted from what bloggers wrote in their posts; we did not confirm it with the restaurant. Where the values differ, it may be a change over time rather than a disagreement, so we show when each one was written.

What sets it apart

  1. There is a weekday lunch special from 11:30 to 13:00. Nine posts mention it, and four give prices: 23,000 won for two, 34,000 for three, 45,000 for four. One post actually ate it, booking through Naver with a coworker and choosing kalguksu as the included noodles.
  2. Ten posts called it good value and none called it expensive. One post did the sum: the two-person set plus noodles comes to 32,000 won.
  3. Seven posts describe the broth as clear and not greasy. Three say the chicken had no off smell, and several note the broth deepens the longer it boils, with a hint of black pepper.
  4. Eight posts mention a wall crowded with celebrity autographs, and some list names such as 10cm, Ha Yeon-soo, Sayuri, Kim Poong and Shin Gi-ru.

  1. Six posts say you order by scanning a QR code at the table. One says the shredded cabbage was refilled on request.

Eight posts say they climbed to the second floor to eat. One says there is no elevator and you take the stairs, and another mentions walking up the stairs. Five posts describe large windows, and two of them say the windows were thrown open.

No post says whether there is a step at the entrance or whether a wheelchair or stroller can get in. One post says there is no elevator and the second floor is reached by stairs.

Two posts say the toilet is inside the restaurant, near the entrance. Separate men's and women's toilets appear only in store listings copied by two posts; no one says they saw them.

No one mentioned: Ramp at the door · Step at the entrance · Step-free access · Accessible toilet · Separate restrooms. That is not the same as there being none — it means we could not confirm it. Worth calling ahead, and do tell us: we will put it here.

What we do not know

  • Twelve of the 13 posts were written between 10 and 18 October 2026, with near-identical keyword titles and the same running order. None discloses sponsorship, and only one says in the text that the writer paid. Please read them as a batch written to a common template.
  • Little is said about waiting. One post found no wait at a busy weekday dinner peak; another saw a waiting board at the entrance and guessed there are waits at peak times. A third booked through Naver because of the lunch rush. No post gives a wait time.
  • Ten posts give the same hours: 11:30 to 21:00, a break from 15:00 to 17:00, closed Tuesdays. Six add last orders at 20:00. All of these are copied from the store listing rather than checked in person.
  • Six posts list the phone number as 0507-1476-7523 and one as 02-322-7523. One post booked through Naver, and another says groups of nine or more must book by phone.
